That's the first time I have heard of that ? No wonder our services are stretched.I was being delicate. The receptionist also told me that people stole the stuff to drink it - the alcohol content.

They stopped putting them at the end of the beds here for the same reason. Alcoholic patients were drinking them in the loos. That's the first time I have heard of that ? No wonder our services are stretched.![]()
Self medicating for untreated mental health problems is my best guess. It’s so sad. What a sad thing to do. How do these people get brought up ?![]()

I’m immunocompromised too, lungs though, not diabetes. I HATE having to go to hospital more than anything else. Why ‘sad’ Karnak?
I probably used to agree that a bit of communal muck strengthened our immune systems but not now. With leukaemia and what is essentially cancer of the immune system (as well as diabetes), ‘filthy feckers’ and mucous troopers can put me in hospital and make me very sick indeed. I try not to live in a bubble but when I see people happily leaving toilets without washing their hands or picking up products in shops with their mucky mitts and putting them back, it has to worry me.
Trouble is, even bacterial gel won’t necessarily kill a virulent form of norovirus so proper handwashing is essential. I once got a dreadful infection in my hands due to poor cannula care and unhygienic nurses. I had hands like big red boxing gloves. Means I don’t care now who feels offended if I ask them to wash their hands or use gel. Needs must!
In a doctor’s surgery however, there’s so many airborne bugs so don’t touch your mouth or eyes and wash your hands on leaving.
Oh @Amigo and @Madeline, just trying to bring a bit of joviality into said topic. May I share an experience with you? I /we went to Turkey and stayed at a very up market hotel, we were assured the tap water was drinkable because the water used for watering the grass etc. was different. In the evening getting ready for dinner, I could see into the kitchen from my balcony and low and behold hose pipe from the garden was transferred to the kitchen, filling all the water jugs and anything else that needed filling including bottle water, beer and wine only in that hotel. Just to continue the story, found a pleasant place to enjoy a meal and drink with the locals, good food, cheap enough, cooking facilities all open to see what was being cooked. Went to the loo, paper has to go in a bin no problem, said chef comes into loo empties all the bins into black bin liners, no gloves bites his finger nails then goes back and continues cooking f**k. Needless to say meal didn`t happen.
Be thankful for what we have!
You are welcome 🙂. Irish lad that I am.I liked your wee emoji, my ‘dirty feckers’ was in jest too 🙂
