Alas I have to add a "me too".I ate everything. My family called me Hoover.
Pasta was my downfall, savoury not sweet food.
I know that feeling. I thought I would have a piece of my grandsons birthday cake but it was far too sweet, could barely eat the first mouthful, the rest had to be 'lost' in a tissue and bought home to throw outI loved Cadbury's cream eggs too. I've had one since diagnosis & couldn't eat it. It was way too sweet!
No at all. Including having provided food diaries to people. Nurse just looked at it, turned away, went on to something else. Dieticien told me to eat more vegetables, not to manage carbs, and was all bothered because I had bacon once.Seriously though folks, did any of the health professionals actually give you any positive help on what changes to make...?
My HbA1c went from 64 to 48 with me doing nothing. I'm not where I am because I educated myself.or have you only got to where you are today by educating yourself?
Oh, I was in hospital on iv antibiotics with a big infection when I was diagnosed. I still don't know how big a difference to my HbA1c that made.My HbA1c went from 64 to 48
I never never liked them. Far to sweet & not one bit of healthiness 😱😳I loved Cadbury's cream eggs too. I've had one since diagnosis & couldn't eat it. It was way too sweet!
Aye, but 100g is about five pieces of Weetabix. A two biscuit serving is 26g carbs. Careful with that head.Weetabix? Wow! 69g carbs per 100g... not exactly good for Type 2... /me goes and knocks head against wall
And I thought eggs were good for you.I never never liked them. Far to sweet & not one bit of healthiness 😱😳
My dad used to say "Eat to live not live to eat" as well Heath ~ so I was fortunate to have been brought up on three good meals a day. After I married I continued the same routine throughout my life too. But alas, I failed to realise that portion size and the wrong foods would inevitably catch up with me and head me in the direction of Diabetes later in life. I once could eat anything and everything and not gain any weight either ~ and I too loved Farleys rusks!😛Very rarely ate proper meal,
Ice cream,Farleys rusk,sweets,chocolate,donner kebabs 3/4 times a week,cakes,biscuits,
Heard that saying years ago wirralass just never followed it wish I had now but better late than never, only problem with rusk I had to eat a box if 18 at a time mashed up like baby food,or crushed up into ice cream is nice as well,xMy dad used to say "Eat to live not live to eat" as well Heath ~ so I was fortunate to have been brought up on three good meals a day. Had chips peas and gravy from chippy other day and struggled, just glad not in USA even bigger,xI am always amazed at portion sizes served in restaurants and take-aways these days. ONE portion of chips from our chippy is enough for 3 adults, with enough over for me to have the few I might fancy. Ridiculous. Artisan (?) burgers served on brioche buns, each the size of a ruddy great plate. A 12" Sub. MacD's offerings so tall they are impossible to get your mouth across to take a bite of.
Caramac are the best along with topicErrrr - I am not actually very fond of Caramac at all - it just became compulsive every time I passed a tobacconist when my brain kept telling me it needed sugar !
Immediately before diagnosis, quite a lot of Caramacs LOL
Nobody eats 100g weight of Weetabix, which is 13g carb per biscuit so you're suggesting the nurse would be telling people they had to have 4 of em for their breakfast - I don't somehow think anyone would say that!
Depends on your normal portion too of course - mine always was and still is, one - so with the milk is still hardly a carb fest even were I T2.
It's like a lot of things they used to do and now have forgotten how.
