Feel lousy and now BG has jumped to 15.5 and medium ketones on urine testing strip despite corrections today (hospital diabetes clinic won't let me have blood ketone testing strips). Looks like it's going to be another long night...

To be honest, I've never used blood ketone strips, and always made corrections on basus of blood glucose results alone. Hope you get some sleep eventually.

Yes, sorry AJ. :(

I am so sorry to hear you are having all of this trouble. I hope you feel better really soon and your bg's start to behave themselves.

Thank you everyone. 3.30am and despite corrections during the night I am 16.9 and feeling rough. I've just injected another five units. Thankfully ketones are now gone. Plenty of testing and resting for me this weekend. I want to be well for my birthday next week!

What meter do you have? I have some spare ketone strips for optium neo / libre.
Thank you very much, that's lovely of you but I would probably get carried away with blood ketone strips 🙂 I'm ok with my ketostix.

Yay 16 units of corrections during the night and I'm now down to 7.1 🙂 Still haven't got a clue what caused the problem so plenty of testing and resting this weekend.

@AJLang. Oh what a night. (Is that a song?) So sorry you're having to deal with this extra worry after what you've been through Amanda, I do hope you begin to feel much better soon ~ and yes keep testing but don't be obsessive and get lots of rest for a couple of days, take care {{{{{{hugs}}}}}} x

Oh No Amanda .
I hope you’re ok now.

Thank you everyone x. Complete rest today - have had to nearly double my basal and do corrections but at least the highest I've reached is 11.2 🙂

That's much better than the 16.9 you had in the early hours Amanda ~ you did right to rest all day, maybe this has helped to lower your numbers, good. Take care and continue to rest for the remainder of the evening.
Doctor Wirralass signing off:D!!! xxx

Thank you Dr Wirralass :D xxxx Resting plus lots of testing and lots of extra insulin. As I wrote on the 7 day average. 5.3 after doubling my basal since yesterday lunchtime - so approximately an extra 30 units to deal with whatever is battering my body plus corrections!! I've never known my body to need so much extra insulin and I'm not eating anything more than usual.

Well despite increasing my insulin by 30-40 units a day for the last few days I still managed to reach 17 last night!! However, keeping everything totally and utterly crossed I'm hoping that the virus may now be going because I've just had a hypo. Never have I ever been so pleased to have a hypo 🙂 Fingers crossed that I can keep to "normal" insulin doses today.
