In about two hours I will be giving myself my 1000th injection of insulin! When I was diagnosed I remember talking to a friend of mine who has been Type 1 for 15 years, and he told me that he had done over 14,000 - I was astounded, and wondered how on earth I would cope. Now, I have to say that, out of the 999 so far, maybe only two have given me problems - a large bruise or lump afterwards.

I'm sure I fall way behind many of the people on here, but just wanted to let those newly diagnosed or about to move on to insulin that there's really no big deal.🙂

I think they should give you a gold needle for number 1000!:D

Wow you count? I just did a quick calculation and I've had between 20 - 25,000 I reckon. Do you think we should get different presents for our anniversaries, like paper or gold? :D

After 50 years on insulin you can get a medal 🙂
6 years to go for me. :D
When and if I receive mine, I shall give it to my Mum for being such a star for coping with my diabetes all those years ago and giving me such a good grounding in self care.

Sue, what a lovely thing to say about your mum! Especially as years ago there wasnt the support or the internet that we have now - she must have been at her wits end sometimes! If you havent already, try to tell her how proud you are of her efforts - it will make it all worthwhile.
At the moment i think Alex would happily swop me for anyone!😡Bev

Perhaps we should make her a candidate for heroine of the month 🙂
