I always do its just something I've done since injecting

Even at university (I'm training to be a nurse) were taught not to bother with wipes for sub cutaneous injections (like insulin, blood thinners etc)

If the skin is visibly dirty we just use a wet paper towel before hand.

For an alcohol wipe to be effective at killing bacteria, you have to rub the area for 60 seconds then wait at least another 60 seconds for it to completely dry.

I was also told that eventually the alcohol toughens the skin, making injections more painful. Is this a myth?

I've been told the same.
