I just had a thought Laura! As your diabetes is 10 years old you should be due to renew your Prescription Exemption card - all you need to do is answer the question ' do you still have the condition declared on your original application? with a 'NO' and you'll be cured! :D

My diabetes is due to expire,
I?ve got about three years remaining,
For my friend got a letter that implied she?d get better,
And we all found it most entertaining!

Bureaucracy dictates that our diabetic fates
Lie in answering just one simple question,
?Since last you applied, please confirm or deny
Can your pancreas cope with glucose ingestion??

Could it be, all along, that the doctors are wrong,
And diabetes is not a lifetime affliction?
Tick the right box ? you?re cured, that?s one diabetic fewer,
And you won?t need those horrid prescriptions!

It?s a ?no? then from me ? I am diabetes-free,
And I?m off to the pub for some drinking!
And I?ll eat what I like with no fear of a spike!
Dr Banting, what on earth were you thinking?

:D (c) Northerner 2010

I like the poem northerner. If only it was so simple!!

Does everyone else get an exemption card for 10 years? Mine has only been for 5 years each time 🙄

No, it is 5 years, but if you have reached 10 years then you should be due a new one 🙂

Actually, it's reminded me that I am coming up to 5 years in June so will need a new one 🙂

Happy Diversary Laura! Enjoy the cake, make it a big juicy Jam Donut! You can have mine as well.

Best wishes

happy diaversary Laura - you should have a nice glass of wine with the cake, and then pamper yourself - do a mani or a pedi ! 🙂

Depends on what you are drinking Rossi!

wine whisky and green tea!

Green tea?? Ughh I think that smells like grass clippings. I can't remember the fruit tea I've had before that was yummy

IMHO green tea only tastes good where it's grown. I drank buckets of the stuff in China but can't stomach it here! 🙂

Oooohh, can you remember the brand LeeLee? (Doesn't matter if you can't)
I've drunk twinings before but would like to try it again as I've heard really good stuff about it

Brands sold in China really don't get distributed in the UK. If you can find a local Chinese supermarket, ask them what's most popular with their Chinese customers. Green tea is better after its first infusion. Make the tea as normal, chuck it out (or drink it if you're brave) and then re-use the leaves/bag. Tastes much better, and that's what the Chinese do.

I find that Dragonfly Teas are a pretty good brand. You can find them in quite a few supermarkets.

Currently I have the Rooibos Vanilla and Moonlight Jasmine Green tea's in my cupboard at work.

Ahhh that I didn't know, may have to borrow a bag at work & try that. Thanks for the tip
