To expand on this a bit.This is wrong! Any insulin user is at risk of ketoacidosis! I am shocked that a doctor and a DSN do not know this! 😱 It's only Type 2s that are NOT injecting that ketones will not present a problem to, since their own pancreas will be producing insulin.
If I go for a jog/brisk walk before lunch then my body will be burning my fat reserves as I eat a moderate to low carbohydrate diet. Because fat is being burned there will be an amount of ketones released (ketogenesis).
If I test with urine strips after I did the exercise I can get a + or a ++. This is not DKA. If I measure my blood glucose it will be in the 5?s or maybe 6's.
