Tonight, for more than 30 years I am getting into a public swimming bath and having a swimming lesson 😱 I've tried on my costume😱 waxed my legs (um um) and am all syked up.......

Hubby has phone ready to video for You Tube....😱

Will let you know how it goes....hope I'm not the oldest one there....oh well, I'll just pretend I'm 10 or so years younger than I really am.....

Amanda good luck it is a massive step, i went in a pool for the first time in 14 years last year, was the best thing I ever did, please let us know how it goes hun

Good luck Amanda, you will love it. Let us know when its uploaded.:D

Have FUN Amanda 🙂

Enjoy the swim :D

I got back into a pool for the first time in probably 6 or 7 years last week at centreparcs. I was just a little out of practice 😱 - and that's coming from someone who used to regard themselves a strong swimmer.

I need a new cossie too, mine is a bit faded and baggy. But all the cossies I see on sale seem to come down below your knees!

"I did it, I did it, I only gun and did it"......... first swimming lesson was fab; 5 beginners; all women (aged 25-45 so wasn't oldest there); female instructors and I managed to keep my head above water; mind you the arm-band helped...:D

Looking forward to next week........🙂 I should have done it YEARS ago!!! but better late than never...

Feel good 🙂

Brilliant! Well done Amanda, so pleased you enjoyed it! What a brave lady you are! 🙂

Thank you; glad everything went ok today..... My lesson was great; I wasn't even embarrased to wear arm-bands. I was nervous to start with but then I had a thought about what I was nervous about I realised it wasn't a major issue so took a deep breath & jumped in (not literally). Looking forward to next week, although I have my retinal eye check next week and 2 fillings.:(

Good for you Amanda! You are my inspiration and I'm so glad you enjoyed your swim! Katiexx:D

So, jumping out of a plane next then:D Well done and so glad you enjoyed it.

Its so often the case when we try something, we wish we had done it years ago.

Well done Amanda.:D

Well done Amanda, so glad you enjoyed it... There'll be no stopping you now, keep us informed on your progress 🙂

I'm smiling away as I read this thread! 🙂 Is this really the same Amanda who introduced herself just a few short weeks ago? Well done you, and not just for taking the plunge as it were. You are doing incredibly well in many ways, and it's great to see you supporting others now in such a wonderful way.....see I told you you would, didn't I? XXXXX

Well done Amanda🙂

Wwell done I hope you enjoyed it. Any tips on how to persuade hubby all that water is really fun?

Brilliant Amanda, you'll be swimming without armbands in no time :D

Well done, it is never too late to learn I took lessons a couple of years ago (unfortunately can't now because of my shoulder) and I had great fun all adults in the same position 🙂.

Thanks guys; I really enjoyed my first lesson: was more nervouse walking from the changing room in my costume then actually getting in the water.😱 It was only a small group 5 women; 2 tutors. I had my arm-bands on and flapped my legs; I sort of moved along the water.......:D

Didn't realise it was so difficult getting into the water; the ladder was a nightmare in itself and I hated getting out; glad it wasn't a man standing behind me....:D

Another 14 weeks and hopefully by then I'll be able to glide along the water..once I've done this I might do aqua-aerobics. Determined to get fit, fit, fit....

Lost 2 stone since July 1st and have another stone to lose; I'm hoping the swimming will tone up the 2 stone I've already lost....

Now for next week; ECG; Retinal exam; 2 fillings....its all go..... Amanda x 🙂
