I'm having the gall bladder removed next Wednesday - 28 Sept. I only went for my pre-op appointment today so was very impressed with that. Its only been 7 weeks since my GP referred me too, mind you I think the hospital admission with pancreatitis might have speeded things up a bit.

PS sorry I havent been around much, I've been feeling really down and fed up and I've found that I've been retreating into myself quite a bit - its very unlike me, I'm usually very upbeat, but hopefully I'll get a bit more back to normal after the op.

On the plus side I've lost a total of 2 stones this past 2 months but on the minus side, I'll probably put some of that back on after the op.

Take care everyone xxx

Wishing you well for the op Karen, will be thinking of you and hoping that all goes smoothly and with a speedy recovery. Good that you don't have a long wait 🙂

Aaaawww Karen I've missed you. I'm so so pleased you are having your operation ( even though on one likes an operation!) hopefully you will be back on form very soon( very well done for losing the weight, I hope you can keep it going when you have fully recovered from the op) I will be thinking of you, I'm at Guys hospital the same day, but no operation 😉 Take care, lots of love and best wishes Sheena

Hi Karen I hope that everything goes well with your operation and that afterwards you feel back to your normal self x

Good luck with your op and hope you'll recover quickly 🙂

Once the op is over you will feel better. I'm sure it will all go well for you.

Karen,
Hope the op goes well sweet, take care x

Good luck Karen.

I may be up for one of those some time too (I have an overly large polyp in my gall bladder which they're keeping an eye on), you can tell me all about it if that happens (or sugar-coat it if necessary! Erm ... what's the diabetic equivalent of that?).

Andy 🙂

Very best of luck for the op karen and wishing you a speedy recovery 🙂 x

Best wishes Karen and here's to a speedy recovery x

Got the op tomorrow and I'm so nervous, I cant settle to anything and I've been cleaning like a mad woman. I booked the day off work today to relax but I think that might have been a mistake. Been having terrible nightmares about not waking up from the anaesthetic and I know that's not likely to happen nowadays. Its really not like me to be such a drama queen, somebody please tell me to stop being so silly :D

Stop being so silly you daft wench

Seriously hope the op goes well my sweetness x

Phew thanks Steffi, knew I could rely on you 😛

You're not being silly - I'd be crawling up the curtains too - but it WILL all go well, you'll be home soonest and will be getting better after that. Now look into my eyes and say "I shall be fine, Faith".......Well ? 😉

Hi Klocky,

You will be fine. You will be in and out within a day I expect and wondering what all the fuss was about.

Take today to do things you want to do - how about a foot spa?🙂

Hi Klocky Sorry that you're feeling like this. I can completely understand because before I had the general anaesthetic for each of my eye ops I was almost planning my funeral in case I didn't wake up from the anaesthetic. 😱 The reality was that each time, within an hour of them operating, I was getting bored and wanted to go home because I didn't have any effects from the general anaesthetic:D Will be thinking of you tomorrow xx

Karen, we'll all be thinking of you and wishing you well, soon be Thursday 🙂

Good luck with the operation. Have a chat with the anaesthetist about your worries. He or she will be able to talk you through things.

Afterwards you may have access to a morphine drip - my Mum did but they couldn't removed the gall bladder with keyhole, so it may be different. Use it if you need to, it should be set so that you can't take too much - but if you try and be brave and don't use it they will take it away. That was my brother's advice to my Mum and he is an anaesthetist.
