I'm usually around 120 over 80 unless I've been for walkies when it's a bit lower after half an hour.

If you can get booked on a CBT course go for it.

Well done, Allan. Nice guidelines for T2s is 140/80, presume it's the same for T1s. My pills get me just under that but I do get low pressure some mornings (93/63 the other day which isn't very funny. Nor was the treadmill test in the cardiac unit I had to have after 3 days without the blood pressure meds (pulse over 100 contunually, don't know what it got to on the test.
Whats the pulse like? thats supposed to be a measure of fitness.

Thanks Vic. My pulse has always been good - currently 52 but has been in the low 40s in the past! What pills are you on? I'm on 12mg candesartan currently.

Well done Alan.

I think sunshine is a natural tonic and makes you want to get out there and walk. The lighter mornings/evenings do make a difference as well.

Unfortunately, in Norway, we are still knee deep in snow and haven't seen sunshine for over a week. It can get a bit depressing.

Keep up the good work though. 🙂

Wow, that's excellent, I seem to get 85 despite the Carvedilol (25mg twice a day) and Irbesartan (300mg once a day), but then I don't get much exercise and never have.

Last week at the Dr's clinic check-up I was 128/72 which is my best for a long time. They usually measure my blood pressure just before they do the blood test at which time my blood pressure is very high as they take blood from me with great difficulty - small veins I'm told - even the hospital peeps seem to struggle. I often wonder if it's something I'm doing or not doing (like relaxing !) when they take aim at my arm.

well done Alan.... really pleased that you are lowering your BP🙂 we diabetics have so much to think about .... it is true what you say that people without diabetes don't really seem to know their bodies very well. I'm really lucky with a very low BP naturally so it hasn't been a problem as far as the diabetes is concerned as my last BP reading was 122/66 ..... I've been much lower than that and the nurses usually get very concerned and test it again :D

Thanks you Marcie 🙂 I'd love to surprise my doctor with results like yours (highly unlikely!). She has been threatening me with more medication for mine, which I am trying to avoid. (Not really 'threatening' - she's lovely!)

I just tested my BP for the frst time in a couple of weeks. Last time it was an horrific 165/98 😱 This time it is 143/83 which is a whole load better! Still a bit of a way to go, but a vast improvement. I've really been trying hard to take care of myself recently so it' nice to see that it seems to be working! That's probably also why my blood sugars are coming down and I need less insulin.

I was talking to a neighbour recently about how much more in tune I am with things since diagnosis. Someone without diabetes doesn't know when something they do (or don't do!) has a bad effect on them, but we can see it each time we take our blood sugar levels or have to understand the dangers of high blood pressure etc.

Hi what did you do different to bring your BP down are you on any medication for HBP?

Thanks,
Lanz

I think the main change I have made recently is to increase my exercise. I had become very demotivated during January and early February, but have got back into it and it has had the bonus of helping me sleep as I was suffering very bad insomnia too. 🙂

I tested again this morning and my levels were 142/79, which just puts my diastolic into the good range. Still have to work on the systolic, although I'm not sure you can do specific things to lower one area specifically.

I wrote a review of the book I have recently read, in the Recommended books section:

It stands for 'Cognitive Behavioural Therapy', and is a 'talking' therapy aimed at uncovering the problems that lie behind depression - often more effective than medication! 🙂

Just measured my BP again and it has come down to 131/85! 🙂 That's an awfully long way from 165/98! Very pleased with the reductions I've been getting. It appears that exercise, eating well, sleeping better, stressing less and drinking less booze (i.e. no booze!) really does make a difference! Who would have thought it? 😉

Excellent result Alan. That's an acheivement to be proud of :D

All you have to do now is work out what sends you up and stop doing it ! 😱

I was 135/80 yesterday at the surgery which is about the norm for me. What BP monitor do you have ?

Rob

Thanks Rob 🙂 I use this monitor - fairly basic, but cheap and it does the job - also it is tested to match the same standards as GP and hospital equipment, which is very important:

Omron MX2 Digital Automatic Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor

That's really great Northe, right into the normal range. Well done.

Mine was 130/70 between 12.50 and 02.10, the early hours of this morning. Sheena 🙂

Well done on your blood pressure Northener. It's one of things that I'm glad to say that I haven't got problems with my last reading was 130/73
