Hi all, after some advice, while i was on the steroids my bs was always high, when it went too high i could tell cause i got angry, proper rage etc, well since coming off the steroids 6 week ago my bs have been around the 6 or 7 mark before meals (yay me) for the last week though i have been having hypos. not bad ones, 3 ish but today i have stayed lowe no matter what i've done and again i am mega angry, does that happen to anyone else??

sorry i cant advise but well done on you getting the steady 6 7 level before meal x

I've been struggling with a lot of lows recently, I don't know if I get angry as such but certainly stressed out and snappy. I've just had a falling out with my housemate while low. He thought it'd be funny to lock the door while I was in the garden so I couldn't get back in, I said I needed to test my blood but he thought I was messing around and wouldn't open the door. I was probably only out there for less than five minutes but in my slightly confused hypo mind I was very stressed and panicky and it seemed like ages. When I got back in I tested my blood, it was 3.1 so I just thrust the blood meter at him and said 'I hope you feel *very* (or words to that effect!) bad' and stormed off. It's not like me to snap at people at all but I think being hypo makes you behave like someone else...?
We've not spoken since, not sure if I should give in or wait for an apology....😉

Ok well thanks for the info and i wouldn't apologise, your life is on the line, when it comes to that sort of behaviour it can be dangerous, hope you get one soon though 🙂

Aymes, if he knows about diabetes properly he will feel very bad. I would stay away from him until he apologises - it simply wasnt funny what he did. I think when you are 'talking' you should make it extremely clear just how stupid it was and come to an agreement that he wont ever do anything like that again! I feel angry on your behalf - and i am not diabetic - so no blood sugars! lol. 😡Bev

Lol, I'm not particularly annoyed about it now, just was at the time while low! We do have a tendancy in my house of pulling pranks on each other, so to me this one just came at the wrong time. At least I wasn't very hypo (relative term I know) so I'm confident I'd have been more forceful if I had been and I'd have been let in. I'm very flattered that you're angry on my behalf though, and may have to milk this, I reckon I could wrangle a chocolate bar apology!!

Aymes,
Mesage to your flatmate = DONT LOCK HER OUT AGAIN!!!!!!!!😱

Its not big and its not clever!

And buy her a nice treat by way of an apology!:D Bev

Aymes - let me know what present you get! Bev

I have all kinds of odd moods when sugars are up and down. Hubby and grown up son get the puncture kit out. If I'm high one of them will take me for a walk if I'm low out comes the bag of jelly babies.

It is certainly not on to be locked out if you need to to testing, so as soon as the idiot was on speaking terms again I'd make it very clear how dangerous his actions could be!

There are pranks, and there are pranks. I would liken this one to someone spiking your drinks for a laugh - nine times out of ten it could be OK, but there is a risk of serious consequences. I had my drinks spiked once (pre-diagnosis) and learned about it afterwards and was very angry about it. I'd be even more angry if it happened now as it would have even worse repercussions.

I hope that your flatmate has the good grace to apologise aymes.

angel30eyes - I think it's terrific that you have managed to come off the steroids. Is there a possibility there there are some residual withdrawal symptoms from this? I've always fought against taking medication that alters my body chemistry radically, and took an awful lot of persuasion about the blood pressure and statins pills. It can take the body varying lengths of time to readjust, so possibly the withdrawal plus the low sugars and the anxiety they can produce is what is happening? I hope that this phase passes soon, and that you can settle your sugars and mellow your mood!🙂

Very common...

Short temper with low blood sugar is extremely common - I know it happens to me and my husband is a marvel :D at dealing with it!

Alex gets angry with both high or low sugars! I get angry too - but i cant blame my blood sugars!:D

Well done on getting off the steroids - i sent you a pm a few weeks ago - did you get it? Bev

yup high and low defo send me a little agro, but then again i have kinda lernt to hold my tongue sometimes 😛

lol there seems to be a trend herehahaha :D

Hold your tongue?? thats not what i heard lol😛

ssshhhhhhhh!!!!!!! steff will get jealous!!!!!!!! lol 😛

Thanks

Thanks for all your replys and have realised it was a mixture of low sugars and sun, i suffer with SAD and while it's been sunny my husband reckons i'm like kylie minogue on drugs and yesterday was the first day in 2 weeks it's been rubbish weather so that didn't help, i got terrible withdrawal from the steroids for about 4 weeks but that's gone now and to be honest when i first came off the steroids my sugars went even higher but for about 3 weeks they have been steady so just must be the weather making it lower although this morning i was 9 pre breakfast and 2 hours later 8 so heaven knows what my bodies doing at the moment lol :D

When I go high I tend to get very very scratchy and wound up with everyone. A little agressive when low. Though considering that I am occaisionally high when I play rugby it's not too bad a thing lol
