Hi,
I have been losing weight for a hysterectomy as I have endometerial cancer. I have now been prescribed more Progesterone which is great for the cancer but not great for weight loss. My BMI is 39.3. I have tried to buy some Mounjaro through one of the online pharmacies but was refused due to me being diabetic. I may be able to get it via the NHS pathway but as I lost the weight in April was referred back to gynaecology. Seeing my gynae consultant in October. Is there anyway I can buy the Mounjaro privately as so worried my weight is creeping back up due to the progesterone. My blood glucose at present is excellent and I have halved my Metformin from 1000m.g daily to now 500m.g. daily. None of it makes sense. Good control but weight seems to be increasing?? Just so fed up!

Unfortunately steroids do seem to have the effect of making people put on weight and even the consultants don't seem to have the answer as to how people can lose it again.
You may need to look at your diet to see if there is anything additional there you can do to lose the weight. There are a few people here who do take the medication prescribed by their GP and others like yourself asking about the private route. The issue with that is that you don't then have the medical support and are on your own.
Sorry I forgot to say welcome.

@Muffin758 welcome to the forum. My surgery has very strict rules about Mounjaro. Incredibly strict. Can you get a GP appointment to discuss? You may need advice about your emotional health in addition to weight loss. If you get mounjaro you would want and need advice whilst taking it. I don't know your general state of health but when diagnosed last year I started eating low carb (120 to 130). I found it liberating as there was no calorie counting. I also found I wasn't hungry as the extra protein in full fat Greek yoghurt and fish and meat filled me up. I ate veg and salad too. I'm retired and have been fat a long time. However I know if I buy cakes or biscuits I can find it difficult to exercise control. My sister will buy a ready meal for one and leave half in the fridge. If the only ready meal I can find is for two I will find it hard to stop eating halfway through. If you are an emotional eater I understand.

I think you need help from your GP or consultant. Look at the Freshwell app that has graphics about what to eat plus meal plans. I havent followed the meal plans but found it helpful. Is their a diet coach/ dietician you can approach? Can you be strictish for 3 months? I've lost 3 stone over the last year ie slowly.

Hopefully people with more experience than me can offer appropriate advice. It must be tough at the moment.

Thank you for replying. I have lost over 10kg since my diabetic diagnosis. I have had NHS dietetic advice and done various classes regarding diet. I have one of the Freshwell books and Dr. Clare Bailey's books are good also. My diabetes has actually kept me on track with my diet you cant cheat on your blood glucose monitor! My Gynaecologist Oncologist has referred me for weight loss injections again. My situation has changed as I have been prescribed oral progesterone which I think seems to be lowering my blood sugars. My diabetes
medication has halved, my Diabetes Nurse is phoning me next week to see how I am getting on, my glucose is reading in the 4s. No, I am not an emotional eater by the way. My diabetes is a complication on my gynaecological cancer journey and unless you have gone through something similar will be difficult to understand.
I am glad you have been able to lose weight its just so much better for us!

I hope everything works through. I havent seen a dietician or a doctor so always look to pick up tips. Since diagnosis I've had two cataract ops with two week steroids as I have an autoimmune eye disease.
Hope your consultant can get you the drugs you need. Wishing you well.
