Used to have sugar levels of twenty odd...

Recently with drugs I've got it down to a constant seven for two months...

This morning it was 16...I retook it it was 24...

I've done nothing differently..

Anyone any ideas why this would happen...

Difficult to say without knowing a little more, eg what meds you're on and whether you're random testing or following a regime of testing on waking and pre- and post-meal. Also what's your diet like?

Metformin and mounjaro amongst others...

Usually take test first thing in morning...not changed what I eat in last few days...

Just hope it goes back down tomorrow and today was just a one off....really disappointed though after all the good progress id made...

Also if you’re brewing an infection of some kind, that can increase your BG levels

Like @Inka, my first thought was whether you had washed your hands.
Especially as the numbers were unexpected and increased so much second time.
I know I feel very different at 7 than 24 so unless I was feeling "off" I would not trust a reading of 24 without an intense hand wash

Thanks for the replies..

With trepidation I took it again this morning.....

It was back to a more normal 8....

Should I just forget about yesterday and just assume it's just one of those things and that I'm back on track....

Thanks will do....hope it doesn't happen again ....bit of a shock when it happened...

Thank goodness @philwhite !

Sometimes you can just get a dodgy strip or two in a pot. What brand is your meter? Some seem to use slightly more of the allowable variation under the ISO guidance. From the Useful Links thread:

BG meter accuracy
It can be quite disconcerting for members new to self monitoring of blood glucose to get different results from BG readings taken close together, even when carefully following manufacturers guidance (washing hands etc). All meters for sale in the UK should comply with the following ISO standards 95% of the time, which allows a degree of variation (and 5% of results can read anything at all). If in any doubt, or if a reading doesn’t match how you are feeling, you should check again with a fresh strip.

Permitted blood glucose meter variation, upper and lower bounds, from range of BG results

Accu check instant....as you say..hopefully it's a one off and be ok in future...

If it does happen again I won't be as shocked and realise it's just a one off....

Thanks for all the help on this board on what was my first post...
