I remember being on here when I received a telephone call from the doctors surgery. “ hello I just calling you about your diabetes “ my reply “ what diabetes ? “ she replied it’s nothing to worry about we will test you in 12 months any concerns here’s a link to the diabetes forum “ Im already recovering well from a stroke so was extremely ***ed off with her nonchalance .
It’s a long story so I’m chopping a lot out .
Escalated the diabetes nurse as a formal complaint copied in my local councillor. Received a very long visit from a diabetes nurse locum got full check up even reading the pulse in my toes. All good “ we will give you another blood test in. 12 months.
I’m getting regular health checks because of the stroke
Lots more nonsense until they agreed to do a specific diabetes and cholesterol check .
Every test result went up on my NHS App in 24 hours.
So here we go Diabetic to non diabetic in 11 months. I’ve changed my eating which was surpringly easy . I do short burst of intense stroke related exercise which can include a sensible stroll but frankly because of the weather I did not increase it.
But I have learnt that even getting up and having a poop is exercise ( probably far more than most realise ) .
I’m feeling less lethargic which is a big deal all round . I’ve drilled down into my new food intake and have learnt how certain nutrients accelerate cognitive recovery , others encourage blood flow. Never ever taken supplements eat the right food and you don’t have to.
All my comments are medically proven I’m very lucky to still be in contact with my NueroPhysio so any info I’ve checked in with him.
Frankly completely ignored any advice from the Diabetes team and some of the advice on here not all of it and I’m aware everyone’s journey is different .
I should stop now but the one I’ve learnt and I consider a big deal the health authorities try and put everyone in a box that does not work everyone on here is different , different genetics, different upbringings a lot of early health events however small can effect you it’s endless.
