The first graph was from Tuesday night. At 01:00 I had a Ham Roll , bag of cheese puffs and a protein pudding.
The second graph is from Wednesday night. I had the same meal but swapped the cheese puffs for some celery sticks and baby tomatoes.Screenshot_20250109-025441~2.pngScreenshot_20250109-025343~2.png
 
But did you take the same amount of insulin?
When did you take it?
Did you include a correction for starting with a higher BG?
Had you been doing more or less exercise or were you more stressed?
...

With so many things that can affect our BG, I find I need more than two "data points" to compare.

The other thing is what you learned - that you need to adjust your pre-bolus time with a higher BG or that you need more insulin with cheese puffs than celery?

For me the big difference is that you started the meal lower.

My bolus insulin (Fiasp) is always much more effective if I inject when levels are low. If my levels are high when I inject, I wait longer until they come down before eating, whenever possible otherwise I will go high and then stay high and need a correction. I believe it is down to becoming more insulin resistant when levels are higher so if I am at 7 or above and going to eat anything which has more that 10-15g carbs (ie something which will take me into double figures, I inject and wait to come down into the low 6s or 5s before I eat it.
If it is a situation where I will not be able to wait, like a meal out with family of friends, then I plan to get my levels down to about 5 by the time I get there, so I will inject a correction an hour or two before I set off if I am up in the high 7s or 8s at that time whilst I am getting ready. This works for me with Fiasp. If I was using NR I would probably have to jab a correction even earlier before setting off but then that could be overlapping with a previous bolus.... One of the reasons I really like Fiasp is that it is mostly finished in 2-3 hours for small boluses.

No the carb values were lower for the second one so I actually needed 2 units less insulin , I did a correction on the first one for the higher BG. No exercise or stress as I was at work and I definitely need more carbs to cover the cheese puffs. As for my pre bolus times it varies depending on how high or low my BG is. I enjoyed the celery and tomatoes more than the cheese puffs too.

Thank you , lots of good information here , I use novorapid. The reason I experimented with the food swap is I have a desk job and found the double carb hit of the bread and the cheese puffs took ages to come back down to normal levels.
