My dinner tonight, home made chilli and rice. Now my chilli has black beans in it. Im trying to get my head around protien and gkucose release delay. Rice is usually notorious for me with a spike. Tonight my bolus, now novorapid, kicked in and down i went fast, libre couldnt keep up and went into sensor error mode and stick tests confirmed it. Looking at the protien carb ratio of the chilli could the protien cause a long delay in release of glucose? This has happened before with anything that has pulses/beans in so im thinking it does and as ive had it happen befire i held back half a unit of insulin to give later. Am i thinking on the right track as i cant think of anythibg else that would have influenced this. Ps its a pudding after the rice that i have every day.
