I don’t have much of a sweet tooth, but enjoy a sweet thing occasionally with a coffee or tea. I have found that I can have a small square of 85% or above dark chocolate without any blood sugar repercussions. I am trying a bunch of different ones and hoping to develop a list over time of lovely chocolate choices. So far the only one I have really enjoyed was Lidl’s JD Gros’s 85% Dark Chocolate, which is smooth and not bitter and has 2.6g carbs a square.

If you have any suggestions, please post here. I can’t be the only one in search of pleasant treats

I too buy the Lidl JDGross dark chocolate. I bulk it out with peanut butter, so I will have half a square with a spoon of crunchy peanut butter without a problem to my BG levels and some days I will have 2 treats like that a day, ie a whole square but split into two events. Other days I don't have any. I don't find that I get carried away with cravings like this. A small amount is enough, whereas a bar of Cadbury's Dairy Milk, once I start, I can't stop, even with a 200g bar. 😱 Not had any of that since diagnosis because I simply can't trust myself!

Reminds me I was planning on making my own bar with roasted nuts and dark chocolate (I am not a peanut lover, but same principle). Project for the weekend!

I’m not so keen on the Lidl. I usually buy mine in the co-op, and get their own brand 85%, but they’ve been out of stock recently, so I tried the Aldi Moser Roth 85%, which I know people have recommended on here before, and I found it equally nice as the co-op's.

I eat both milk and dark chocolate. I like Lindt, Green and Blacks, and Tony’s, as well as Hotel Chocolat, but I also eat cheaper stuff like Dairy Milk and Galaxy.

If you’re on a budget, the Tesco Classic 74% chocolate very good.

Aldi Moser Roth my favourite, any of the dark choc ones. Actually they are nicer than some of the Hotel Chocolat ones I had for my birthday and cheaper. Lindt are also good but more expensive.

Like all dark chocolate, tried Tesco's own few weeks back whilst away on hols & it was really nice, was on a club card price at time.

Fav milk chocolate is Galaxy & Galaxy Ripple, yum yum yum.

Do like chocolate so dont exclude it from diet as its one of life's pleasures.

As it is close to Christmas I'll just mention taking a bar of dark chocolate and melting it on greaseproof paper or a baking sheet in a tray until it is soft enough to press in slivered almonds all over the surface.
If you use greaseproof you can cut it into squares with a sharp knife without trying to separate it first. Don't do that with a baking sheet. Maybe a blunt knife would have worked......

That is the one I have on the rare occasion I buy chocolate. One square and let it melt in my mouth.
I do the same. I rarely have more than 2 squares a day, always at the end of the day as a reward for staying under 130g carbs. It's a great incentive to do so.

Bought some to put in the Christmas goodies box, so I can have a tiny bit when the others are enjoying their treats. Also was 20% off day for my hubby, so treated myself.

I like chocolate but have managed to train myself not to buy any. However if I see a tub or box of chocolate ( quite often this time of year) I will allow myself two pieces about a total of 8 carbs.

Asda Ugandan 85% also a good buy and tastes as good as the Lidl one Bit fruitier.

I have ordered a few different varieties in my next Ocado. Will report back

Just to add - Cadbury Snowman.
They’re absolutely delicious evil - yes, really evil. Do not eat them!
Leave them on the shelf for me to buy your own good!
I just recently tried them and totally agree! Got a box because I thought they would be very cute to give to the kiddos in the family. Then got a second box to try one, you know, just making sure they taste alright before gifting them... 😛

I also tried a 100% cacao bar, I don't remember the brand (Raw something?). I found it really effective to not overeat...I just couldn't eat it at all!

I do enjoy the Lidl JD Gross 70% with raspberry or salted caramel, I guess is a bit more carby than the plain one but not bad for one or two squares and that's all I need. Still prefer milk chocolate tho.
