Yes I see , what you’re getting at. Sometimes I’m just hungry , at other times though within range,if it’s at the lower end of the range that’s when I have the hypos. But I’m sure with a bit of trial & error it will work out eventually. I have appointments coming up with the nurse soon, so I’ll ask her more on this subject.
16 years is a long time to be on a Mixed Insulin. Perhaps ask about an MDI regime. Long acting and rapid acting. It would give greater control and flexibility.

I just reread your post and realised that you are on a set dose of mixed insulin - so that would mean trouble if you went low carb - you can't make any adjustments - but as Burylancs has just this second posted, it is an unusually long time for you to be in that sort of treatment. Maybe you should try to get some information and alterations so as to be able to change your regime to avoid hypos and also to get away from the carbs you are eating at present.

Hi
I have been on Canagliflozin for 4 months now, and have had no trouble with urine infections or thrush. Like you I go to Aquafit 3 times a week and am meticulous with my vaginal area hygiene. I also use Gynest cream twice a week internally prescribed by my GP. The only side effects I have are that, because I drink a lot more, I pee a lot more as well.

Thank you, that eases my mind a bit. It also makes sense that it makes you thirstier , & like you say, it then has to come out.The nurse said it would make me wee more, which makes sense. I haven’t got it yet

Hope the appointment(s) with your nurse go well @DappyLady

Let us know how you get on, and if you are offered a more flexible basal:bolus / multiple daily injection insulin therapy, which would be much easier to adjust than your current mix because the background and mealtime insulins are separated out, and taken individually. 🙂
