I have joined today and would like to know more on type 2 snd and a diet plan

Do you have a blood glucose meter?
Some surgeries seem to be realising just how valuable it is for a type two to control their levels, others declare we can't cope with knowing....

Hi Buba, welcome to the forum.

We've got some info on our main site re Type 2 and diet which you can find via the following links

Are you able to share a bit more about what led to your diagnosis ad whether you were given you HbA1c numbers which are the results of your blood test showing a snapshot of your blood sugar levels over the last 3 months?

Do also have a look around the site and feel free to ask any questions or concerns you may have.

Hello @Buba and welcome to the forum.

There are several options on diets, but there is no ‘one size fits all’
Many on this forum reduce their carb intake, as they find it very effective in reducing blood sugar levels, but it is important to maintain a balanced diet and but there are other options, and you need to find what is most suitable for you.

I would suggest starting by reading Maggie Davey's letter, which gives a lot of information on how this lady approached the problem.
It does all take time to find what’s right for you and adjust your lifestyle, but please be patient, it will be very worthwhile.

there is plenty of help and experience available here, so please ask any questions you may have and we will always try to help.

I was feeling tired all the time and drinking more than usual , which led to blood test then on to metformin . Started on 2 x2 per day now on 1x2 per day, i was then referred to one westminster for help although it was weight loss prog it does not deal specifically with diabetes . I have a brief idea about what i have but not fully . All i know that when i started the blood was at 60 then went down 20 something if that makes sense. I have lost some weight (4 st ) but need to lose a lot more. I am starting to feel tired again and get little or no exercise . No buddy to talk to.

Welcome to the forum @Buba . It is a lovely group of people here. Ask away on your questions, someone will help out. Also if you are feeling little lonely post in the 7 Day Waking Average thread. I had just starting posting there and it is a lovely way to feel connected every morning.

Hello @Buba
Thanks for telling us more about yourself. Very well done on loosing 4 stone that is a tremendous achievement, and the fact that you have been able to reduce your metformin dosage probably indicates that you are getting your blood sugars under control.
There are many ups and downs along the journey, and feeling tired can be a problem. If there is any way you can start some gentle exercise this may possible help a little. There are a few ideas on this link

It can be all very hard and lonely though and as @Kopiart suggests. joining the '7 day average' discussions may help. It is on this link:

In some areas of the UK there are also local Diabetes UK Support groups that may provide sources of contact with others living with Diabetes https://www.diabetes.org.uk/how_we_help/local_support_groups provides a link where you can search for these.

I hope you will keep posting at let us know how things are going
