I was also going to suggest looking up whether there are any visually impaired cycling or running clubs in your area, ive often seem the visually impaired tandem club out (sighted guide on the front), but also runners, disabled swimming clubs and other things. Perhaps a disability sports club would have some support that could help you feel more confident?

I looked at the gym list but there are none near me that are suitable.

I’ve sent a few emails to local organisations about groups and see if I can get some more information.

I think it was bikebox
I couldn’t find that make anywhere, unless I just missed it somehow.

Try searching for Box Bike, looks as if it might be a TV offer from Ideal World shopping channel.

This?

Yes that one!
And how was it for balance? It does look like you couldn’t get up real speed or do a spin class or anything like that but I’d assume it’s fine for sitting on and doing something on whilst watching a film etc rather than doing nothing?

How did you find it?

It’s an intriguing piece of equipment because it looks quite interesting and substantial but clearly doesn’t take up too much space.

Not available on Amazon but there’s a few on eBay for £60-£80

I think it would be fine for the average of even unfit person. If you are a real cyclist then it’s probably nothing. You are right it’s not like spin class but it’s better than sitting on your sofa.

it felt strong enough and was comfortable for the whole family, even my daughter at age 8. And doesn’t take up that much space.

I just bought one on eBay. £20.99
It’ll cost me £20 roughly to get the train there and back to pick it up but it’s a day out and a bargain.

Idea is that I can use it whilst watching the telly.

Will you let me know how you get on with it?

Sure.
First I’ve got to head down to Eastbourne and bring it back to London on the train!
Went back to the gym today but the bike is really so that I can do something productive whilst watching Netflix 🙂

First impressions are favourable.
It’s solid, feels very secure to ride.
Easy to get ready to ride and very simple to pack away.
The unit is a little larger than I thought it would be but that’s a compromise to get the stability.
Have knocked out half an hour this evening whilst watching telly and that’s really why I got it.
