A couple of months back finally realising that my HbA1c of 58 was not where I wanted it to be as I was beginning to experience complications I joined the forum, tried to tighten things up a bit, went on the Libre trial and hoped that I'd see some improvement...well today I got my latest result...57!!
Okay, so it's going to take a bit more time than I thought but 57 is better than 59 and it's going the right way...right?

Oh and the Drs note on the system...no action.

Keep working at it and keep the faith. Mine was 78 at diagnosis, then I got it down to 63 then 57 6 months ago. Had it tested last week and it was still 57, but I know that I came off the wagon a bit for the first 3 depressing months of this year. Back on it now, and hope its much lower next time now I am basically eating like a vegan squirrel. Ultimately you can’t change the past only the future right. And yours is declining so if you keep doing that you’ll be in remission eventually! Its all good

That number is going the right way and when you see the number of days and effort it takes to reduce an estimated HbA1c by 0.1% on Libre/cgm I'd take that as a positive. The 'no action needed' always makes me laugh when I've worked really hard to achieve it.

It’s good and going in the right direction. Also remember that you might have smoothed out your results a bit - less highs, less lows - which won’t show in an HbA1C but is good.

I rang the doctor today for the result of my HbA1C that I had last week (5 months from my last one) and they said the Dr was still reviewing it so I am now really worried it is going to be bad news, the last result was 38mmol//mol down from 50 last June. Cholesterol fine at 3.5 and the ratio 2.5 so OK.
Update today, a bit like Great British Menu
HbA1C down to 36mmol/mol BUT
Low B12/folate so prescription given
High Potassium so repeat U & E blood test requested.

It could be that Doctor has not looked at the results yet!

Grovesy is probably right! Our receptionists won't tell you anything until the Dr has found time to look at the results.

@Peely66 You are getting there little by little and it may just be that as Inka has said, you've ironed out the highs and lows.

Sorry to hear you are feeling a bit disappointed with your latest HbA1c. It can be a real kicker when you’ve put the effort in, seen some real improvements, but don’t get that ‘official’ affirmation :(

But it is moving in the right direction... and hopefully you’ve seen some Time In Range improvements, which arguably is a more nuanced measure.

Onwards and downwards!

What the result means

You've got to stop panicking about anything, until someone who actually knows about whatever's worrying you actually tells you there's a problem. At the same time keep ringing them and reminding them because 5 weeks is ridiculous. Our GP sent OH a text last Saturday to say they'd had his blood test results back (the blood the surgery took out of his arm last Thursday) and something was low so they'd prescribed a course of X and sent the scrip to 'our' pharmacy for dispensing, so he went and got the tablets from the pharmacy before lunch.

The only thing I'd add @Peely66 is write down anything that frustrates you or comes to mind over next couple of days about the '..no action' remark from your doctor and ask them - the downside is they won't understand what you are going through of course, but they certainly will have seen many many people in your position so may be able to reassure you or, alternatively, be more straight / helpful with you, no harm in challenging and getting the full picture that you need! In any case , stay positive, sounds like you're doing a great job and as others say, HBA1c doesn't tell the full story!

Hi, Well done on the Hba1c, that's exemplary. May I ask what prescription they have given you for B12?

If you have to collect it, then I assume it's pills. Are you on Metformin? I ask because that medication can stop you from absorbing B12 so pills are useless. The correct treatment for low B12 is via injection. However, due to Covid many GPs have been stopping giving injections because you have to visit the surgery. That is wrong. I have an injection every 8 weeks for low B12.

@Peely66 I didn't see any improvement in my HbA1C when I started using my Libre. However, as the others have mentioned, I knew my graphs had been smoothed out and I spent more Time In Range and I saw this as a win. The great thing is we are able to track this ourselves without the need for blood tests and doctors appointments.

As for the "No action" comment, that doesn't mean you cannot proactively take extra actions. Over the years, I have learn how little "action" I get from my great diabetes team except being there when I have a question. Most of managing diabetes is the day to day management rather than anything that can be achieved in a 30 minute appointment once a year.

My suggestion would be to keep up the good work, don't be too hard on yourself and don't be afraid to ask the forum hive brain if you need any help.
