Blood results How do I access my blood results online

Ask at your surgery. Many surgeries have online booking systems and access to test results tends to be part of those systems. Assuming your surgery is one of those, then simply ask them to tick the boxes needed for you to see your results.

Our surgery uses Patient Access as their system and it appears on there. Other surgeries use other systems I believe.

Thanks from us I will ring them today to see if they have the right system thank you

Hope you can manage to get access @mage 1

With my surgery it was a 2-stage process. First signing up for Patient Access for repeat prescriptions etc, and then once that was set up, also asking to be allowed to access blood test results.

For me, I had to request access to my electronic patient record.
This includes blood test results.

I can access my GP test results and other records via the NHS app.

How did you manage to do this? I've just tried on Patient Access and there is very little info I can access other than 'medication' or 'allergies'. Do different surgeries operate differently?

I signed up to it some time ago, and there was little info there so rarely went on it. They've updated things somewhat now but I still can't see any way of getting, say, blood test results.

@Pine Marten - as I understand it, your surgery has to set flags at their end to allow you to see results. Try ringing them and asking them to do it.

My surgery does not allow more either.

I always thought I was unable to view my results until I had "good play" on my GP site. I went into my settings and requested a few extra things to view and low and behold a few days later was able to see my blood test results as well as hospital letters, etc.

Do you use Patient Access for prescription requests? That was the system our surgery switched to.

I think (it’s a while ago now) I either saw that there was a ‘test results’ section that was greyed out, or I got chatting to the receptionist when having to make a physical trip to ask them to print out my results (and pay 20p per sheet) and asked if there was a better way. Like @Docb says, they just seemed to have to flick a switch on my account somewhere.

It has been very handy, so in your shoes I would ask the question when surgeries open up a bit again

Thank you for your replies, everyone. I haven't used it for prescription requests yet as my last one was agreed over the phone last summer during my D review, and I have one more lot of stuff to get before putting in the repeat (just BP pills and statins). I might try it online and see what happens!

Excuse my ignorance, but can you not simply phone your surgery and say “I’m calling to get my blood results?”

Now here’s a thing, I joined Patient Access in my last practice, but when I joined my new practice each time I try to log in “that email address has already been used” now I can’t log in at all and I only have one email address and it is the same one my surgery uses?

Well of course you can - but you may only ring for results at my surgery on a Tuesday lunchtime between x and y, a 2 hrs slot, cos that is the time they have allocated to giving results out over the phone. If that does not fit in with your life - best rearrange your life if you ever want results from a test ......

Yes my surgery is all results phone after 4pm. I am retired so that fits with me, but I can now see why with some people a time slot is not ideal.

Any weekday!!! Gosh, fancy having 5 different days to choose from, practically EVERY week!

I use patient Access and blood results are on there, and often back the next day

My gp surgery us systmonline. I got access to it when I was diagnosed. It allows me to book appointments (gp and blood tests), view my patient record, view all test results, message the surgery and request repeat prescriptions. Is a fantastic system.

That is the system my surgery uses but they do not allow the full range of service.
