There are various half unit pens depending on what insulins you use. For Humalog it’s the HD Luxura Pen (HD standing for ‘half dose’). It’s a nice pen with a metal casing.

Hi @Andrew04 as Inka has said there are different rates of onset, and for those of us diagnosed at an older age usually have a slower onset, so those Beta cells may well be hanging on there which can leave you without a need for some basal or Bolus. Exercise will still be an issue and those Jelly Babies or whatever you use for hypos will still need to be on hand. Levels coming down to below 6 is good but will probably feel a bit weird as you have been higher for a while.

Thank you, yes I was diagnosed at 28 so not it might be the case. For now since I don’t take any insulin I will try to increase carbs intake if I have to walk. Jelly babies are my eternal prevention supply 🙂

Even 28 is a later diagnosis, so could impact on the rate of development.

I’m trying my best but for some reason the team that manages my case seem extremely bothered by any questions.

That’s not good @Andrew04 Is it a hospital-based team? Is there a possibility of changing hospitals/consultants? It makes such a difference. My consultant is great, and I’ve found all the DSNs brilliant. It would be harder emotionally as well as practically if they weren’t.

I agree with Inka - it makes all the difference if you get the impression they're on your side. Any medic who makes you feel they can't be bothered with answering you or explaining things better, is a failure. Worse than a failure actually - risks damaging patients psychologically.
