Just want to share the result of my phone appointment with the consultant 15mins ago as it is really something to celebrate and mostly as a result of the input from you wonderful people here on the forum.... and a little help from my self funded Libre, but wouldn't have had that without you people either, so a huge THANK YOU for getting me where I am now.
HbA1c is down to 48 and I am absolutely over the moon with that result.
People have said that Libre estimates lower than reality so I didn't dare to hope it might be in the 40s and was prepared for low to mid 50s. Really, really chuffed with 48 particularly since that is the diabetes threshold.
Cholesterol is down another decimal place to 4.8 despite following a high fat diet and eating loads of cheese and cream in my coffee every morning and rather more pork scratchings than I should!😱
Weight is down 4lbs since Feb which I am also very happy about but as I have been at a normal BMI since diagnosis (when I dropped a stone and a half) I would be quite content with just a maintenance level.
BP was 130/80 but I was really stressed as appointment was for my 5 yearly smear test as well as blood tests, so not surprising it is a little higher than I would like.
Libre shows 91% in target, 3% moderate low and 6% moderate high and my consultant has awarded me his Gold medal award as patient of the day and my Libre will be on prescription from now on. I start back on Fiasp today which will take a bit of readjustment but since I tend to do corrections for protein after I have eaten, it should perhaps enable me to improve things a little more.
One of my questions was about having Libre on prescription and perhaps being committed to continuous use, but he was happy for me to take a break from Libre for a couple of weeks here and there when I need to as sometimes I find it can get a bit consuming and a week or so of finger pricking makes me appreciate it all the more again but also reminds me that I don't need to be so reliant on this technology and to remember to listen to my body.
Really feel like I am starting to get to grips with this now but the big challenge will be maintaining that level of success in the longer term and not being too disappointed if it goes up a little occasionally as I am sure that can be demotivating.
Anyway, I will be raising a celebratory glass to you guys tonight, so "Cheers" for all your guidance and support. I would definitely not have achieved this success without you.
