As a temporary measure would it work to wrap a couple of rubber bands around it to give a couple of grip points?

I do this with stubborn/stuck jar lids to improve grip. Some of those tiny ones maybe?

I was not querying your need , I totally understand that . I love the skin for my Libre reader.
I know you weren't, just dont want people to think I'm just being fussy! LOL, I must get one for my Libre reader at some point, I don't often use the reader so its not an urgent requirement as I use my phone but obviously have the reader for checking ketones xx

Thanks but I prefer to take my meter to my finger rather than trying to apply blood to a strip on something lying on a low unit
Like I said it isn't practical. I'm surprised there isn't any online though. Maybe we should try and make our own.

There's no immediate rush, I still have around 200 Aviva strips and would need to talk to my DSN to see if they would switch my prescription but yeah that's a good idea, I'd need to find some though lol, Scotmid don't sell rubber bands

I would if I had a clue where to start! LOL
xx

Apparently you can now 3D print in silicon... You just(!) need to create a computer model of the shape you want and away you go!

I'm sure we had a bag of about a million at one point. I'll see if I can find them and could post you some if we've not chucked them out?

Oh really? I have a friend in a vaping group that has a 3D printer so if Ascensia don't give me the answer I want I may message him and see if he knows anything! He does star war stands for his vape tanks and all that so may be able to come up with something!

Thanks but don't worry about it, I'll scour the kitchen drawers, we may still have some that were holding bunches of asparagus together! LOL xx

Just tried one of these tubular finger protectors over my contour next and it fits you’d need to cut a hole for the meter window and cut to length, they’re not adhesive. I use tubular toe protector over my finger pricker to give me better grip. There’s lots of types of finger/toe protective tubing around - silicone, gauze etc just a thought!

Would the not fray and unravel, as I used to find they tubular gauze had a tendency to do so.

As Flower mentioned there are silicone ones available too xx

So wanting to do some more testing and comparing with this meter before I decide whether I want to switch or not, a lass I know has offered to send me some strips for it

Been doing some googling and think I may be able to DIY some sort of skin using a silicone mould making kit, wish me luck as its something I'll be doing if I'm still here in a couple of weeks! xx

Quite liking this meter and comparison tests against my Expert are very close, I had a look at NICE and the NHS and the cost for Contour Next strips is £1.05 cheaper than the Aviva strips I currently get, if all with the other strips goes well then I'd highly consider asking if I could have my strip prescription swapped over BUT my drawback for this is how slippery I find meters, does anyone know if there is a silicone case available for the Contour Next One at all? xx
Hi Kaylz, my Next One came with a zip case for the strips, lance device (although I still use an Accucheck Fastclix), and a specially designed clip/tray to hold the meter. Also a pouch to hold the lancets etc. The case is fabric, and not slippy. Also, the meter is fixed in place in the clip (but can be detached if you need to, e.g. to change batteries.)

Yes thanks I'm aware as that's what mines came like but I would prefer a skin to put on the meter itself as I like to take my meter out to test rather than leave it in the case but I find the meters themselves slippery xx

OK, understand. I like the way I can insert a strip and add the droplet, with the case just lying flat on a surface (lap, sofa, table, or whatever) without fiddling with it 🙂

@Kaylz - I see someone mention rubber bands ^^^^ up there.

My hair, having gone feral during lockdown, is now longer than in a long time. Lots of places, like pound shops, for example, do very small silicone/rubber bands that would be a firm fit just putting it on. I can't recall how much I paid for a little pouch a few months ago, but I'm certain it was under £1, for more bands than I'm likely to use in my lifetime.

From memory, they come in black, clear and mixed, bright colours.

Yes and snap very easily too, tried them and they didn't even last a few days, I had them in from an order I did at Savers months ago xx
