You obviously have a very friendly meter Trophy lol. My meter won't do Ketones. When I was up in the high 20s I was looking out for the taste of pear drops 🙂
Even meters that you can test for Glucose and Ketones ,they use separate test strips for each, and the test strips for Ketones are expensive. You obviously have a very friendly meter Trophy lol. My meter won't do Ketones. When I was up in the high 20s I was looking out for the taste of pear drops 🙂
Yes I am.Many find that what they can tolerate changes over the years, I believe @grovesy is one of these people xx
I am not saying you being a victim of crime has had no impact. As @Kaylz mentioned. Over the nearly 20 years I have been on this journey, I have found what worked for me had to reviewed and adjusted, a number of times.I too am living with elevated blood sugar levels ..my last HbA1c came in at 12% ..my finger prick tests are all in the mid-teens ..in spite of now being on Metformin and Dapagliflozin ..I don't believe my diet is to blame for this ..as it hasn't changed from the time I was 'flatlining' in the ✻green✻ zone ..it is a bad situation to be in ..I happen to believe being the victim of a crime earlier this year is the reason why I'm in this mess.
I think I hover about 11 average and drink a 2 litre mixture of cinnamon mint cloves and ginger as well as plain waterHello @Tam
Sorry to hear your blood glucose numbers are a little on the high side.
The general guide for T2s used to be 4-7 before meals, and no higher than 8.5 by 2 hours after meals.
So I guess it would depend on how long you were hovering around 15.
Are you needing to wee a bit more frequently? Above 10 your kidneys can try to flush out the excess glucose by making you urinate more frequently, which in turn makes you thirsty (water is best) which then makes you wee even more!
I’m on metformin and empaliflozin my diet is not bad maybe too much brown bread and cereals my weight doesn’t change but can’t see a proper decrease in blood sugarI too am living with elevated blood sugar levels ..my last HbA1c came in at 12% ..my finger prick tests are all in the mid-teens ..in spite of now being on Metformin and Dapagliflozin ..I don't believe my diet is to blame for this ..as it hasn't changed from the time I was 'flatlining' in the ✻green✻ zone ..it is a bad situation to be in ..I happen to believe being the victim of a crime earlier this year is the reason why I'm in this mess.
Maybe you could cut down on the bread and cerals bit.I’m on metformin and empaliflozin my diet is not bad maybe too much brown bread and cereals my weight doesn’t change but can’t see a proper decrease in blood sugar
@Tam - as you've identified what you think may be the culprit - why not cut back on one, other or both - and see if that helps get lower numbers on your meter? We're all our own guinea pigs for such 'medical experiments' and nobody else can replicate our results with whatever!
Ditto Steven - you've been T2 for a while and clearly your Doc knows your body isn't coping as well as it did cos they've added the ~f;ozin. have they perchance asked for any other blood tests to see if anything else is going on, other than the stress from the criminal incident? (just wondering if you are actually LADA rather than classic T2)
