Got our “ tickets” for the above. I read in the local press yesterday that this was happening over two Saturdays. The 10th and 17th October. We’re in Devon on the 10th on holiday and in Blackpool on the 17th for our daughter’s wedding. Will try and arrange to go to surgery. Which is a shame as I’ve never been to Carlisle airport before! 721F54AD-1CD1-4BF4-A055-C8CB94423237.jpeg

There’s an airport? I did not know. :D

Our surgery is doing "walk through" flu jabs at weekends and we went last Saturday. They've taken the remaining chairs out of the waiting room and they call you through, jab you and rush you out of the staff entrance. Never had such a quick jab before, it's brilliant!

Been one for as long as I can remember but not for passengers until the last couple of years. Then after a few hiccups Logan Air starting flying to Belfast and Dublin, unfortunately COVID-19 has put a stop to them.

I've got my appointment booked for the 18th October at my local boots. My gp surgery are only doing the over 65's at the mo.

I was initially excited by the idea of drive-in flu jab clinic and jealous of those living around Carlisle.
But then I saw the time of the appointment. Realising it was a whole hour I fell out of love with the idea because I have a strong dislike of sitting still and waiting for that long (I was in and out of my pharmacy in 5 minutes when I got my jab a couple of weeks ago) . I started to remember the images of the queues for drive-in MacDonalds when they first reopened.
Overall I think the idea of drive-in jabs is a great idea. I wonder if it is in the plans for mass C-19 vaccinations.

Good point about an eventual C-19 vaccination.Every now and then there is a discussion about how a vaccine will be distributed and tbh at this early stage it didn't sound great.

My thoughts on this it has not been approved yet! Experts globally are still thinking it won't be available till next year, and will take years to vaccinate all populations globally!

Had mine done last Saturday at the surgery, well organised in one way
out another so easy. Another surgery in the town you have to put your
arm through a window in the car park to get your jab, couldn`t make it up.o_O

Not practical at our docs, carpark is not drive through and is a hill! (previously the back garden of the houses but flattening the building site made it steeper.

Deffo not practical at mine either. Car park is too small. Even the one way system won’t work as there is only one accessible door. I had a text this morning, regarding my jab tomorrow, says be prompt and to ring a given mobile number when arrived. Doesn’t sound like it’s going to be in and out if everyone has to alert them when arriving.

That’s what we have to do! Except we can’t because we can’t go. But on the back of the “ticket” it says you have to stick your arm out the car window, wear a short sleeved top and leave your engine running! 😱

Wow! Amazing how things are adapting for the current situation.

My surgery aren’t doing walk in clinics this year they phoned me in July to book my flu jab in for this month on a Saturday!!

Just had mine at half 10.

Had to call a mobile number when I arrived. Asked to go straight in, nurse took me straight through, jabbed me, then I left.

Not sure how many they have booked in or at what intervals, there was 1 waiting on a seat in the waiting room and no one outside.

Had ours done at the local chemist last week. Done in the evening, gauleiter on door who would only let you in if you had appointment. Shop divided into two lanes with jabber at end of each and you were ordered to go down one or other lane. Already had paperwork done and dusted - they knew us and probably knew most of the other customers who were due.

Fast and efficient. Only hope it works.

my only reservation with drive throughs is the concern regarding (rare) reactions

My surgery was boasting how they had managed to inoc 2000 people last Saturday. They have no more vaccine available. No idea with that amount of people if anyone managed to get covid as a bonus 😱
