Following my recent post advising that my GP had referred me to hospitsl following chest pains - I have some news.

I had my appt this mornng at the rapid access chest pain clinic, at the local hospital. I was put through the mill. An ECG, a full physical exam, an ultra sound scan of the heart, exercise on a treadmill. This all took around 2 hours, then I met up with the head people to discuss the results.

The good news is my heart is absolutely fine, I do not have angina, but, I am in the at risk group, due to diabetes, obesity and family history.

So, I am fine - shattered - but relieved.

I was a tad concerned when on the treadmill, as my blood pressure went up to 260/170. But it went back to my normal range on resting.

Tell me, why to people chose to go to the gym and use a treadmill - mad!!!
It is so boring!!!

I am off now to take Dad out for lunch - bye

Glad your ticker is OK Hazel.................

Enjoy lunch with your Dad........

Great news Hazel, I'm so pleased for you. I agree about the treadmill, I went to the Gym years ago, I would rather watch paint dry, it is so boring and uninteresting that's why I love to walk outside in the fresh air.
Have a great lunch with your dad and enjoy the rest of the day. Sheena x

Brilliant news, I am glad everything is OK.

I hope you enjoyed lunch and your dads company.

Wonderful news Hazel, really pleased for you! 🙂 I'm with you on the treadmills (not litereally!) - especially when I used to go to the gym to use the weights and there would be ten treadmills going, and beautiful weather outside! I used to run to and from the gym to get my aerobic exercise in!

Hope you have a lovely lunch with dad, and that he's well too 🙂

I'm sooooooo pleased everything is alright with your heart Hazel. Hope you and your dad have a lovely lunch.

Glad everything is ok Hazel.. don't you just love the treadmill when they increase the slant of it and you feel like you are falling off the back... lol

Enjoy your lunch :D

Phew. That's great news Hazel.

Great news Hazel, hope you enjoyed lunch with your Dad x

I'm with you on the boredom of treadmills, Hazel. Plus, I tend to trip up on treadmills, which is daft as I can happily run across rough ground when orienteering and only stumble or fall very rarely.

After your meal, hope you can find some exercise that suits you - if you need some encouragement to walk further, a pedometer can help by recording your progress towards whatever daily target you set yourself (10000 steps per day is often quoted); if you need places to aim for, then orienteering can help - I'll run further when I have a control flag or electronic timing box to aim for, and there are permanent courses in many places if you don't want to throw yourself into a competition straight away, although there are usually choices of courses, both lengths and difficulties, plus someone to help if you identify yourself as a novice. Geocaching can also help - and boxes are always around to be found; many can be found without a GPS if you have a decent map, which can printed off internet, plus hints are given (in easy to crack code) on www.geocaching.com which is free to use.

I was required to walk at a steady pace on a treadmill in shiny stockinged feet - hello, can I take the popsocks off, no. A feat of concentration and i never completed the full distance LOL

Hi Hazel. That's fantastic news, I'm really pleased for you

I had to do the treadmill test before they would release me from hospital after my heart attack, quite frightening. It was even worse doing it later on and having to give up the blood pressure pills for 3 days before hand, my pulse was over 100 before I even started the treadmill.
I don't think regular gym goers use it quite that hard and when they do they are used to it which helps.

You must be relieved - are you still experiencing pains ? If so I hope the Dr gets to the bottom of them.

Great news :D, hope you had a good lunch xxx

Excellent news Hazel.
