Success. I have found that I can have a salad(ham and pastrami) in a pitta bread (wholemeal) and only go up about 2 points on the BG. Why this is I have no idea, but I have checked for 3 lunches now.

The pitta bread is 30g of carbs, so dont know why I can have that much without a problem.

his means I can have a packed lunch if I have to go out🙂 So happy about that.🙂🙂🙂

Excellent news! 🙂 Haven't had pitta bread for ages so can't comment on how it affects me.

Hey thats good news, I love pitta bread and often have it with salad in always the wholemeal type though

Roast chicken with salad is my favourite filling in pitta bread.

Brilliant - I have wholemeal pitta bread for lunch during the week stuffed with rocket;spinach and watercress and either ham; fish or chicken. Filling and doesn't cause too many problems...

Pitta bread doesn't affect my blood sugars either. 🙂

Some nice suggestions there, thanks all. 🙂

Its the first time I have found some sandwich possibility , in addition to the Bergen as suggested on here. I tried baking my own bread, and thought I had done ok but if I cut it to get say 11 carbs as per Bergen, I ended up with a postage stamp size sandwich. So it was back to the drawing board.:D

Strange now how happy one can be over a bit of pitta bread.

Think it's summat to do with the consistency of the dough; it's unleavened and very 'close' isn't it? And dry, really. And very very thin. But you can cram so much filling in, it kinda feels like a complete indulgence. A big, FAT sandwich .....

Wonderful stuff .... tuna mayo and shedloads of salad for me!
