Waking blood sugar average.

At risk of diabetes
My waking blood sugar average is between 5.4 abd 5.6 for the last week or two.
I am surprised as I have eaten lots of carbs over Christmas and New Year. Is this an indication that my blood sugars are in normal range?

My last hbca1 was 40.

Thanks

Your Hba1c since July 22 looks to be in the 'normal' range and these BG readings look fine also

You've never been diabetic (looking at your Hba1c history) so there's no particular reason your body wouldn't just be processing carbs normally.

I'd be very happy with numbers like yours!

My BG readings have been 5.6 average for several weeks now and my pharmacist says "that's text book" by which he means ok

Yes, they seem to be "normal", eg: below pre diabetic range of 42 to 47.

Those look very ‘normal’ results for a non diabetic.

They look like encouraging results @Sulfate

When are you next due a follow-up appointment at your GP surgery? Hopefully you can get a timely HbA1c result to help you keep an eye on things.

Have you only been measuring waking readings? Or have you done any additional checks before and 2 hrs after higher carb meals to see how your metabolism responded?
