Get tummy pain behind belly button from time to time. Put it down to Metformin but it's got worse lately. Not effected by anything I eat - just a grippy pain - easier in bed.

Anyone else get similar?

I agree with Grovesy that a chat with your doctor is a good idea! Metformin is known to cause gastric problems and one solution to that is the modified release metformin. It's slower release so most people don't get any, or very few, side effects. Certainly not ones as bad as the standard met!

I would go to the doctor too. If it was the metformin, it would have resolved itself at the next loo visit!

How long have you been taking Metformin? I started taking it about two weeks ago - for the first week I felt sick in the night and the morning. The sickness seems to have subsided but I've started getting stomach pains. I know it might be too early to tell but I think it might be down to how much I eat. I take Metformin (and Atorvastatin) with my evening meal but if I have something light (a salad or soup) then I get stomach pains. If have something a bit more substantial (chicken/fish, lots of veg and a small potato) then I seem to be okay.
I would still recommend mentioning it to your doctor/nurse though.
Hope you are feeling better soon.
