Had my 6 monthly check up with the Dr today and she has taken me off the Byetta, :D because it is not working.. plus the last couple of months I haven't taken it properly because the sickness (plus the 6 metformin a day) is so bad. last week i only ate 2 proper meals because I felt so sick, and I can't live on a cereal diet forever.

I then saw the dietician who was also pleased that I have lost weight, 11lbs since August, and that I have increased my exercise. Got told to do my blood sugars more often (again), and was given a new chart to fill out so that I can see over a week what food, sugar levels, carbs and insulin are all doing. Also at my evening meal to try 5u : 10g CHO and experiment with maybe 3u : 10mg at breakfast.. then as I lose more weight I can lessen the amount of insulin. See the dietician again in 4 months, I see my DSN in March and I see the Dr again in August.

Well done on the weight loss thats great, i too am off the byetta im now on victoza and im pleased with it so far, sorry the sickness was so bad, hope the new regime helps out.

Thanks Steffie, glad the Victoza is going ok, another friend started on that recently and it really made her feel so sick, although I haven't heard her mention it since so maybe it has settled down.

Hi Squidge, sounds like the Byetta really didn't agree with you and was badly affecting your quality of life. It's good they've taken you off it and offered an alternative strategy - hope it works well for you 🙂

Great news on the weight loss Squidge!! 🙂

A cereal diet? What the heck are they telling you to eat?

I consider cereal to be a poisonous food to be handled with extreme care. I used this technique to discover that (click on it): Test, Review, Adjust.

Testing more often is probably the only subject your dietician and I would agree on 🙂

Hi Squidge, blimey am I the only Byetta Babe left? Well done with the weight loss though and hope continue to do well. I'm still using the Byetta and no longer get any sickness which in some ways means I can shovel in a bit of extra food and so the wieght loss has slowed right down but at least it hasn't gone up. Bg's are fine. Good luck with it all Squidge.

Well done with the qeight loss squidge - i am waiting to go on an insulin/metformin/byetta regime - so i may well be looking for assistance, if that would be ok???

Lizzie - i am a byetta person too (wont use the word babe about myself, lol)!!!!

Of course you are a babe mrsjaja! Hope you benefit from it. It has worked very well for me since last June, just had to persevere through a couple of difficult months at the start. Dont hesitate to contact me for any tips on how I got through the few difficult times. I know it doesn't work for everyone but when it does it's pretty good.

Nope, you're not alone, I'm still on Byetta and likely will be till at least May. Apart from the nausea and the hypos I'm doing quite well with it!:D The one thing it is doing is helping me lose weight.

I'm with Alan on the cereal thing Squidge, though when you're feeling that sick, it's hard to think of anything that you can keep down. I use oatmeal mostly. Maybe they'd be willing to let you try Victoza, it would be worth asking I reckon.

Good to hear about the weight loss and your positive appointment. I hope being off the byetta makes you feel a bit better.

YeahI was surprised about the cereal too and I don't think I've even had a sniff of it since last June when I started the Byetta adventure. I tend to go down the egg route for breakfast but during bouts of nausea found cold food much easier to eat and had berries and plain yogurt with ginger tea and that helped a lot. Little meals of cold meats and salad suit me for lunch and I always seemed to be able to cope with a bit more during the evening. I have the go ahead to remain on Byetta until at least October Alison and doc said that as long as my BG's stay down I will stay on it.
