By a series of unrelated events I stumbled on a podcast recently which has given me lots of useful information relating to diabetes. http://2ketodudes.com

It's by a couple of American and Australian guys who are type 2 and convinced that a Ketogenic diet is the way to go. I know very little about this kind of diet to advocate it but what I have found very useful is their simple laymen's description of several aspects of diabetes, particularly the episode on Insulin.

Might be worth checking out, if like me you are on a voyage of discovery about how we got here and where we are going.

Well I have had IBS since my late teens (I'm now in my mid sixties).
I was diagnosed with type 2 last September and joined this forum in December when I bought a meter.
Since going onto a much reduced carbs diet and upping dairy, good fats vegetables and wholemeal grains, everything my consultant told me not to do my IBS has almost gone.
Reading further I understand one of the negative side effects of the Keto diet is constipation!
All I can say is thank goodness for that, I have a normal life free ofopain f f the first time in years.
Ok so I can no longer eat a lot of things I like, like dairy milk chocolate but it's a small price to pay.
Win some, loose some as they say.

That's great news Jackie - well done.. So much conflicting dietary advice is available isn't there. I am interested in the Keto diet but think I need CGM before experimenting with that. Everything feels kind of stable for me at the moment so I will leave it for a later date. regards, Chris
