I got this one at college as well -
My father got snowed in at work and rang for a pastry recipe for fruit pie - I gave him this one. he made it up so short that he just rolled it to ? inch thick - filled a dish with apple and put the pastry on , one of the men he worked with when he got home told his wife that in all their married life she had never made pastry that good!!! I am sure that went down well.

Sweet pastry

8oz flour with pinch of salt
5oz white flora / margarine / butter (I have used all of these at different times)
4oz caster sugar
an egg

rub flour and flora together
add sugar and rub in
add the egg and mix in.

this mix does not work in a mixer,

rest - the first roll out tends to be very short and light

I would be interested to know why you think the pastry recipe is in anyway suitable for a diabetic 😱 Flour and sugar need to be restricted for anyone with diabetes. 🙂

I just remembered it

I just remembered it,
I accept that it is no good for diabetics --- but as has been pointed out to me- not everyone in a household is diabetic, it seems to be a good recipe so if anyone else wants it they can use it.
