Well I ventured into our local pool for the first time. After constant ear infections and major ear surgery I have shyed away from swimming. Loved it but suffered for it. But impatient to do something low impact I took the risk! Since I cannot go to aquafit as there are none on when I am free....all during the day week days. I really enjoyed it...my neck and upper back didnt, but I did! And you know although I have had bad fatigue the last two days as a result the neck and upper back have recuperated...the ear seems ok .My feet have been quiet this last few days too! Having lost 26lb now I can see and feel firmer even just from the one swim! Or maybe its wishful thinking my arms and legs felt good. Not dropped a dress size yet...last time I lost wait I lost 3 stone and finally managed a dress size...who said there was 10 pound in a dress size! So I plan a bit more swimming though I nearly had a heart attack at the price!

Oh I am so glad you returned to the pool. I am a real water baby or was. I had a meniscus tear a while back and was advised to only swim on my back as the front strokes could cause further damage to the meniscus. I tried this but soon realised if I continued I would probably end up with concussion. Lane discipline in the pool was rather erratic to say the least. So very reluctantly I put my swimming gear away. Sigh.

Back stroke is better for my neck and upper back too,but its a bit hazardous!

Hi , I love swimming and go 5 times per week. Does it help my back , I think so but I still enjoy walking on average 8000 steps a day.

Excellent. I'll be going weekly as soon as the weather perks up a bit. Did go over Christmas but it was just too cold coming out after being toasty in. I don't really swim, but a wallow still makes me feel good. 🙂

I went swimming yesterday, wouldn’t expect to be toasty warm in the pool!! The energy bill crisis means they’ve turned the water temperature way down at my pool. Got to keep swimming to keep warm.

I only did 14 lengths, still trying to find an amount I can do regularly without provoking the ME

Thats my problem, pacing so I do not trigger my fibro cfs...I swear fibro and ME are if not the same ,then very close sisters. My GP is concerned my WBC is always ever so slightly raised. Last month my CRP and WBC raised even more. Well I went swimming spend the next 3 weeks in a sore of flu and so exhausted it has been counterproductive. Which sadly is always what seems to happen. I did about 4 lengths!

My WBC is always high too, I have full blood count, blood film (where they look at the type of white blood cells), and iron panel tests every few months (ferritin isn’t accurate when WBC is high). I could swim more than 14 at the time, but last time I went I swam 26, got out before feeling ill, and was then unwell and couldn’t swim for the next 3 weeks. So frustrating. Yesterday was the first time back, it always feeling like flu type tiredness when i trigger mine too. I’m sure that even if I have to start at just getting in the pool and not swimming, there must be a way to build it up without triggering ME though.

That is what I hope too!
