Hi everyone, day 3 in hospital and doing well considering the major surgery i have undergone. I have 2 metal plates in my back with screws fusing my spine and all this was done through the stomach. I was put onto a sliding scale which took the pressure off me being in theatre for 3 hours and feeling nauseous on waking. They just fed anti sickness drugs through venflon and i tested my BMs which weren't too erratic. Bit high last night 18.1 coming off the scale but with my correction and sall amount of food and insulin to clover it back between 8-10 which is better

Looking good Laura! I hope you make a speedy and full recovery, and that you feel much stronger and free from pain as the days and weeks progress 🙂

Sounds good Laura, hope you recover quickly and aren't feeling too uncomfortable.

Glad to hear things are going well, Laura. You sound pretty upbeat.🙂 Good luck with the recovery.

Sounds good, Laura. I'm assuming you're not in pain, as you haven't mentioned pain? If so, I hope that when painkillers are reduced, you'll be left with less pain than before operation.

Thanks Northener, im in less pain mow and eating well. Physio ahead of me but I've got out of bed and walked twice today as i know its good for circulation. BMs a bit high before lunch but a corrective dose helped.

I had 2 pached eggs and spinach last night with a tiny bit of mushroom sauce and my BMs went up 2 hours after to 18 i should have taken insulin but didnt think i needed to with eggs and spinach it mst have been the large tablespoon of mushroom sauce!

Thanks Redkite, so far so good. I've had 18 clips down my stomach so a bit tender but nothing like back pain so i am truly grateful. Hope your son is well

Sounds excellent so far Laura - what a relief it must be.

Went to see a chap at work after he'd had an op on the discs actually at the back of his neck - they "slit his throat" to get in to do it !

From now on everyone seeing it will think 'That's a big scar for a Caesarian these days' !

So pleased your op is behind you Laura and wish you a very speedy recovery 🙂

Really good to hear you being so upbeat and that everything went OK. Hope you recover speedily and that your pain is a thing of the past. Take care 🙂

Do you feel like a bit Bionic ? Pleased your on the mend 🙂

Glad to hear you are doing well Laura.

Had my throat cut a few years ago when two discs collapsed in my neck, I had a morphine pump for two days and couldn't feel a thing. However, I had bone grafts from a piece of bone taken from the top of my hip, this was far more painful than the neck, it was like having a broken leg that hadn't been set. They actually break your neck when they do this and I had two discs repaired.

It will take a while to get your strenght back, but I am sure it will be a great success.

All the best.

Hi Jenny, such a relief and im very comfortable.

The staples will come out in a week, im coping well. I have a corset nw not a sexy one i might add laughing quietly

Hee hee - my first husband was issued with a surgical corset when he had a shattered disc, at the time I'd put weight on so was finding size 16s tight, I was instantly size 12 again if I put it on, as he only had a 32" waist !

Not attractive as you say and useless in one way for ladies actually since they have no suspenders LOL - but he reckoned it really helped in the pain department. He was sposed to wear it during the day, but he'd ask me to cinch him into it in the evening sometimes so he could have a good cough - it hurt too much otherwise!

Glad it went well Laura and I hope this is the start of everything getting better 🙂

Only just seen this Laura, very pleased your surgery is over and done with and even more pleased you are on the mend. 🙂
