Could I ask you all about spa treatments. I'm supposed to be having a girlie day out soon, celebrating a relatives birthday and I've booked a facial but I'm I've read so many different things, I'm really unsure if I should have it or any other treatment for that matter any advice would be great

What are your concerns? I find a facial soothing and restful as long as it’s nothing harsh like micro dermabrasion. It’s basically a massage for your face (and sometimes hands too).

I can't imagine any problems with a facial - others might know something I don't. I haven't had any problems having one. The only thing I have ever heard regarding diabetes and spa stuff is some concern around getting a pedicure - presumably around potential longer healing times if your diabetes is poorly controlled and they cut your foot. Other than that pump users have different guidelines regarding saunas, steam rooms and jacuzzis. Have a lovely day and enjoy relaxing.

I love a spa day and never given it a second thought. Wouldn’t have a pedicure as I hate anyone touching my feet! 😱 But have had facials, head, shoulder, neck and full body massage. Just enjoy it! 🙂

Hello @Golden girl welcome to the forum.🙂 Let them massage any part of your body,😳 enjoy it.

I have regular massage and enjoy it.
No problem except I do make sure I drink more water afterwards.

Oh I’m a spa girl (I’d live in one if I could) absolutely no issues, except the sauna, that’s a definite no for me because the heat makes me hypo but if you’re not taking insulin you should be fine if you would normally be fine. Have an absolutely fabulous time and enjoy the pampering :D.

Yep, I visit a Spa as often as funds allow!! Very good for the soul – go and enjoy every second. Massages are great for circulation, I've found my feet and hands are not as cold when I look after my muscles better. Definitely should avoid having a pedi, as a diabetic, but other than that, you're good to go.
