Hi all, over the last two weeks my small toe has been getting really itchy and it’s become slightly swollenThere doesn’t seem to be a lot of feeling on the toe either.I’ve never had this before and I suspect it maybe linked to my diabetes.Has anyone else experienced anything like this.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi . Any problems with our feet need to be checked out , if you are under the nhs Podiatrist they are the best ones to contact , if not then contact your Gp practice .
I hope it turned out to be something minor and easily treated.

Definitely worth getting it checked out.

It may be something as simple as athletes foot, but people with diabetes are advised to take extra care and precautions when it comes to their feet.

Do you have the same level of sensation in both little toes? And what about your other toes? Is the sensation in your other toes still good?

Hello @Jamie M I have to agree with the others, very important to look after your feet.

Is it just one toe or both little toes affected? either way it needs checking out asap.

This time of year, I tend to suffer from chilblains. I have done so since childhood (before I had diabetes) so never worried about it.
I also have Raynaud’s and some recent reading suggested the two are related as chilblains are caused by blood vessels “bursting” when they quickly expand when warmed up.

Despite my experience, I too recommend getting your feet ch3 Jed out.

Chilblain is an interesting thought then, but worth getting it checked to be on the safe side.
