Just got back from Tesco. As usual I find it quite funny to check out the carbs on things you thought we're healthy & the things you know you should avoid. So, a 50g serving of Shredded Wheat (bite size) has 34g of carbs! Worse than Coco Pops, which is 29g. But even more shocking was a cream jam doughnut was just 24g of carbs! I know what I would prefer.:D

Mmmmm... me too! I used to love doughnuts, custard tarts, spotted dick & custard, coffee & walnut cake (that can't be bad, it's got nuts in it?!), ooh yum 😉

Teach do some frozen profiteroles - 20 small ones in a carton. The chocolate sauce is frozen separately. Allegedly, 5, including sauce is only 10gr carb.

At Christmas, I had some of these, and passed on the chocolate sachet, preferring to add more double cream (liquid, as opposed to heavily whipped) and grate some 90% dark chocover the top. the others ate the rest, in the same manner, which wasn't at all my plan!

They way they are frozen, you can have as many or as few as you like at once, and leave the others frozen, unless the gannets are there too. 😡

The best profiteroles I've ever had were from the Co-op. The chocolate sauce was laced with brandy.:D

After my next HbA1c I will celebrate with a cream cake. Only 6 weeks to go.

I celebrated my latest HbA1c result by having a bakewell tart from costa coffee, was delicious.

We have to do these things. I couldn't go through life without ever having a bakewell tart again.🙂

My thoughts exactly. Ive already told my OH when we go to the great dorset steam fair in august I will be having a portugese custard tart in the food hall tent, as they are bloody lovely! All the walking we do there I'd have earned one!

Of course! The key thing is that these things are treats - your hard work the rest of the time means you can enjoy them free of guilt or worry 🙂 It's traditional to have a special treat on your Diaversary in order to thumb your nose at diabetes, but interestingly after the first couple of years I found myself comparing treats in the supermarket and picking the 'healthiest' one! 🙂

Stitch, did you test after your bakewell tart?

I did, I was 6.2 before hand and only 7.5 90 minutes afterwards, so not too bad. I did have a large skinny latte with my bakewell tart.

I am shocked! This reads like a slimming world/weightwatchers thread - after weighin they usually head to the pub or the chippy!!!:D

I am still planning my celebration/commiseration treat - got my 3 month review on the 8th March so we shall see 😉

I may be odd, but after I have my HbA1c results, I never feel like anything carby. It somehow feels like I'd be undoing some of my work.

When our new Sainsbo's opened a few months ago, shortly after I had returned to the UK, I saw their single portion mini-pavlova in their Patisserie department and declared one for me at some stage I felt like it. It never happened. Having given myself "permission", I just didn't want it any more. Odd? Moi? You bet your life I am!

I know what you're getting at, AndBreathe. I will probably end up being the same when the time comes.

I had a couple of those on Ne'erday, they were rather good.
