Hi everyone,

I'm checking a glucometer in our test kit and can't for the life of me figure out whether the strips we have are compatible. Can anyone shed some light on this?

The glucometer type (of which we have 2) is "SD Check Gold"
They both have code chip 021
The tub of test strips (we normally only stock 1) is "SD CodeFree Gold Electrode"

Does anyone know for sure whether these can be used together?

If I have to order new coded strips, is it possible to get 2 new code chips with 1 pack of strips, or to order the matching code to the chips we already have? Would I perhaps be better just replacing with CodeFree glucometers?

Thanks in advance!

How old are the meters? Most meters these days have dispensed with coding chips, (which is why the new ones are called 'Codefree'.) When my Accuchek meter dispensed with a new code chip with every pot of strips, they issued a one-time black code chip to insert, which stayed in the meter permanently after that. I wonder if you'd be better replacing the meters for a Codefree if they are old, in any case or contact Homehealth, who sell the Codefree, to see what they say. Using a Codefree strip in something that's meant to have a new code chip with every pot might result in an inaccurate result.

Thanks. The meters have definitely been around a while. I think they're from around 2012. They seem to be giving sensible enough results, but I'll get in touch with Homehealth to check. Thanks again.
