Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi, I was just diagnosed with Type 2 in November and I made a good start on Weight Watchers. Then Christmas came and I was out of control in eating and drinking and generally doing everything that got me to this state in the first place. Come January, I got back on track for about 10 days then got blindsided by a terrible cough and cold bug. It wiped out any exercise and made me generally very unwell. I have an Hba1c in 10 days time and I'm so scared that the combo of Xmas and illness will make the results insane and the doctor won't believe that I have learned a lesson and am recommitted to turning this round with healthy practices. Any advice welcome! thank you.

I wouldn't worry.
I tackled my diabetes for me, not to impress the doctor.
Having said that, if they can offer any useful advice, it's worth biting the bullet and listening, my surgery were very helpful for me.

My advice is to take the Hba1c test. Consider it a reset and motivation to stick with WW and exercise.
The doc can't force you to take any medication if you don't want to so be open and frank with him/her.
As @travellor said, you should be tackling your diabetes for your own reasons not to impress someone you see once every 3 months. But remember some docs can be very helpful - I believe they are rewarded for patients with lower results not how they are achieved.

It’s not exam, they won’t (shouldn’t) tell you off if it’s high. It’s just a number that helps guide what treatment you need.

Don't you mean can be very helpful?
Low BG is always good

Ah @milly_hants

Try not to worry. I know it’s easier said than done!

A few setbacks are perfectly normal along the way - the good thing is that you noticed it happening, and want to do something about it.

Don’t listen to any ‘telling off’. That’s completely unhelpful. Go in with questions you want to ask (take a list?) and get them to help you if you are struggling or need more help. 🙂
