Hi Everyone,
Can I just ask does anyone know -Is it OK to use packet mixes for coq-au-vin, casseroles etc or do they have ingredients that increase the carb count?
Third day of low carb and it's going OK. Getting to understand my way around and what I need to do etc.
Yearly MOT with Diabetic Nurse on Friday, so will be interesting to see what my bloods are and the response to my doing low carb.

Hi Big Phil. I’ve had a look at some online sources (pun very much intended), and the first three ingredients – therefore the highest contents in the sauce - are typically potato starch, wheat flour and sugar, all of which increase the carb count. The suggested servings contain around 8g of carbs, which I think is quite high for a sauce. Here is one example.

Thank you Bronco Billy for checking out a 'sauce' for me - pun intended!
Recipes from scratch it is then.
PS Like the helmet! NFL all the way!

Hi @Big Phil I`m afraid I would not touch any packet sauces with a barge pole. @Bronco Billy pretty much said as it is. Make your own, most food that rely on flavour is full of carbs.

According to my dietician some of the obscure ingredients affect spikes etc. I can eat homemade porridge but unsweetened instant oats send me through the roof
