I am currently using a Samsung A535G phone which I purchased last month. 10 days ago I started to lose connection between the app and sensor so alarm going off every 30 minutes. Replaced sensor early but same thing has happened again. Contacted helpline and told to clear cache on Bluetooth, disable another setting and restart phone. This didn't work. Anybody out there who might be able to help? I'm at the point now of giving up.

What a pain! I take it you have bluetooth on and aren't in airplance mode? I'msure you'll get more techy people on soon.
Worst cae, if it persists you could ask for one of the libre receivers from your diabetes team.

Thanks for the reply. I've received a new reader today from Abbot but use an ipad. Doesn't appear to be any instructions for uploading data so another headache! Will have to wait until I change the sensor next week or hope I can get it sorted!

You can't without plugging the reader into a real computer.

You can scan with both, but as I think you know you have to start it with the reader (which'll be getting the alarms), so that would need to wait until you use a new sensor. (Which you can do at any time, I guess, though it does feel wrong to waste a week of use if it's basically working.)

Thank you. That confirms what I thought. Might mean having to sort the laptop out, the problem being that is it's not very transportable and I travel a lot. It's just so disappointing as I've used the sensors for 3 years with no issues up until now.

While I guess it's a bit annoying having to carry two devices, I choose to use the reader for alarms. Most of the time I scan with my phone (which uploads the data) and the reader just handles the alarms. But sometimes I scan with the reader (when I'm walking it's a bit easier), and sometimes when I get the "reading unavailable, try again in 10 minutes" message using the other device works (though not very often).

I don't rely on the alarms much, so sometimes I don't bother with the reader if I'm just out for a little while.

Sorry to hear the tech is giving you the runaround @HelenC

The reports on the reader itself are pretty helpful to keep a bit of an eye on how things are going generally (though not as detailed as the ones you can get once data are uploaded.

If you can manage to work with the reader as your main wayof using Libre, perhaps your clinic can upload the last 90 days of results at your appointments for their own use?

Have you got a lot of things running via bluetooth? Some forum members have had success by trying to limit the number of BT devices connected. And also does your phone have a fairly clear ‘line of sight’ to the reader?

It helps to keep my reading devices (phone/pump) on the same side of my body as my Dex sensors to reduce sensor drop-outs.

Is there any reason why you feel you need to download the info from the reader regularly. I generally just download it to my computer every 2-3 months. I haven't managed to lose any data from it doing this and the only reason I download it is so that my consultant has access before my next appointment.
Have you tried just turning off the "out of range" alarm. Do you still get high and low warnings?
Has the problem occurred since the last update IOS 16.1.1 I believe as many people seem to be having problems since then and Abbott are supposedly working on it.
Personally I love the reader for it's ease of use and even when I upgrade to Libre 2 I plan to continue using the reader because so many people have problems with the phone app, especially after updates. Yes, it is one extra thing to carry but it is small and scans so much easier than a phone I am told.

I've never used a reader but your suggestion might get around the problem. If I start the next sensor on the reader then I can get the alarms working again. If I scan with the phone and it uploads data automatically then I guess it would mean that all my readings on the phone would be uploaded and the reader would give the alarms? Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

Thanks for input some useful points you've covered. Part of the original contract with my hospital was uploading results every two weeks which I assume still applies, although I don't know if they ever look. I'm on

an annual appointment so they do look then although the one with a different doctor couldn't get the results up so I gave her my phone! Last time I was told my control was excellent but too good! Danger of hypos. The results were the same as the previous year when the consultant was complimentary! I haven't had severe hypo for 15 years. So I've basically carried on but have tried to brings it up a bit. I'm waiting to hear from the local hospital as I emailed them this morning as I couldn't speak to them this morning. I do suspect that suspect it could be update but who knows? At moment I'm not getting any alarms so scanning more often to make sure it stays in range.

Yes, exactly that. And when it's more convenient I can quickly scan with the reader (it can take a second or two to get the right spot on my phone).

Thanks, I'll go with that and if needs be I'll scan reader and phone so the clinic has all my readings. A good solution as I'm a keen cyclist and the alarms have been a real bonus particularly on 50 mile ones. Thank again.

Sounds familiar....i was told i was 'trying too hard' and by another doctor to go for higher levels despite only having one mild hypo a month. I think they are contractually obliged to be negative.

I've now (extremely reluctantly) decided to use my Libre 2 reader until such time as Abbott sort their update mess out.

Will have to wait until my current sensor stops working in a few days time though as my Libre 2 reader won't even take readings from the current sensor (the Libre 2 reader tells me because I started the sensor with another device. I thought even if one started a Libre 2 sensor with one's mobile (so you could only receive alarms on the device that starts the sensor) one could still get readings on the reader????!!!!

Abbott now appear to be manning their customer services hotline with staff who seem relatively blase about the issues and inconvenience their updates to the Librelink app have caused, who don't seem too concerned about patients moving to other manufacturers' cgm products.

I think from reading various threads here, have to start with Reader to get readings there, but can get readings on mobile (if app works) even if started with Reader

You can only have the alarms on one device, phone or reader, whichever device you start the sensor on. I've also had lots of issues and am using reader for alarms and phone for testing. As you say customer services very blasé and not very helpful. My DNS are being deluged with problems at the moment so we're not alone!!!

I knew you can only have alarms on the first device that starts the Libre 2 sensor, but I could have sworn I read somewhere that didn't stop you using a second device to scan and get readings) for the 14 day period.

I am really surprised at how some of their customer service hotline staff are treating this self-created shambles so casually (bordering on rude). My experience of US-originating companies is that their customer service and "empathy-with-the-customer" is usually second to none. Although it is obvious they have outsourced customer services outside the US or UK.

I believe the provisor was that if you wanted to have a second device paired with the Libre 2 sensor, it had to be started with the reader and then paired to the phone afterwards which of course means that you only have the alarms on the reader.
