Not routinely, as generally parking permits are for people with mobility problems who need to park close to destination to minimise walking. Personally, I generally aim to walk as far as possible, so park as far from supermarket, for example, as possible.
I think it would depend on whether a complication of your diabetes had affected your mobility (e.g. Lower limb amputation)
I'm still slightly uncomfortable that ALL my prescriptions are free - not just the Diabetes ones. I think I'm expensive enough to the NHS already. Having said that, I've pretty much not needed a prescription for anything non-D related since diagnosis.
I think the 'disability' stuff for diabetes is more important for the 'reasonable adjustment' stuff that schools and workplaces need to do to accommodate people living with diabetes. I don't really consider myself disabled at all, but it's good to know that employers could not prohibit me from, for example, SMBG or treating hypos whenever I needed to.
