Just spotted add for one of these in Balance - does anyone have one? Interested as the display looks really clear for K to read and looks like strips are easier to handle too?

I've had a one touch meter before, it was okay, came in a smallish pouch and I particularly liked the finger pricker device.

Not a Verio Pro, so can't answer the exact question but FWIW they virtually had to surgically remove my One Touch Ultra 2 from me when I got my pump! (which comes with a meter/remote so using a different meter would be a right faff about)

Wore a CGM for a week a while ago - and when they printed the graph it made - all but about 2 of a whole week's meter readings were smack on the line on the CGM graph !

Carol was given one of them at FFL. She liked it at the time and asked me to get the strips for it, but she hasn't mentioned it since coming home.
The screen has a nice bright light and you can read the results quite clearly even in the dark. I wouldn't say the strips are any easier to handle though. I think it's a little less fiddly to put into the meter.

I looked up the price of the strips, as the rep said it had gold on them. I thought they'd be more expensive than the ultra ones, but they're not really.

It can't hurt to try it. Ring them and ask them for one. As a type 1 K will get it for free. 🙂

I have one and I like it, display is easy to read and there is no coding of strips, and you can put the drop of blood on the left or right side of the strip.

Thanks for the link - the trouble with getting free meters (as we have before) is K gets to like them using the strips that come with so we ask for strips to be added to script and - well first time DSN gave us another meter same as using as a 'spare' instead, second time went straight to horses mouth (pead.) who said he would add to script but never has - we got the message!

However if this meter IS any good at least I have excuse of needing it as readout better for K - will give it another go:D

I see the strips are in a tub - how do people get on with tubs? We are used to foil wrapped?

By the way we already have the finger pricker - best one we have tried (and K has tried several!)

It's Carol's favourite finger pricker too:D

We've always had tubs. The strips are just simply stacked in the tub. You'll have to stick your finger in and try to lift one out without others coming out too. Sometimes not easy when static occurs.

Cure for static for One Touch strips - open tub, tip strips out onto sheet of clean paper. Spread them out with your clean hands - like you did when you were little and couldn't shuffle a pack of cards properly cos your hands were too little!

Gather strips back into a pile or a few piles, stick back in tub.

Tedious when you do it, but much less tedious every time you need to use one.

You will get a pot of 10 freebies when you get the meter - so K can have a play with them and see if she likes them before getting them added to scrip .....

Thanks for that tip Jenny 🙂

If you think the One Touch are a pig, you wanna try the flipping Accu-Chek. 50 in a tub scarcely bigger than the One Touch pot and if I can't get my fingers in (size L wedding ring) - Heaven knows how yer avge bloke manages ...

I found the strips for the One Touch Verio Pro very very flimsy. When I was hypo I wasted about 6 because they bent whilst I was trying to get them into the meter.

Gingerly ! 🙄

But I may not be average :D

It's very fiddly to say the least. I've spilled a few before now. The Xceed was wonderful for having the foil wraps. But I like the accu-chek meter.

It all comes good just when you are getting towards the end of the pot! LOL

I just had this mental picture of the vid of Keith Moon and 'Fiddlin about' ......

Absolutely!.....especially with my big digits......so annoying when you drop the pot and they all fall on the floor! 🙄

TY to Avge Blokes #1 & 2 for agreeing with me! LOL
