So after an exhausting day at Luna Park where 35 degrees heat turned out in actual fact to be 42 degrees and the North wind ( like a hot hair dryer in your face)...we returned home to grand daughters birthday party. I had not known this was happening as son said not...but his wife had invited people and made a spread of party pies ( Aussies favourite mince and onion mini pies) samosas spring rolls you get the drift....and of course birthday cake. I descretely found my punnet of cherry tomatoes and had them...but mindful of not much elses short of being impolite and making a salad for myself I had some of the beige buffet.....now I am not one for pastries and never have been. I make a mean mince and onion pie myself but never make them unless its a special request to take to someones get together...Pastry is so unhealthy and never sits well with me. I had a small piece of cake first bit of cake since Before October I guess when I was diagnosed and to be honest cheesecake factory frosting seemed mostly whip cream and not very sweet at all- good for them. THankfully the BM 2 hrs after was only 8.3mm. High for me but then I have stopped my glicozide till I get home and speak to GP....so on metformin alone I am so pleased that was all it was.
So good old metformin.....you did your job LOL! The next day was a toilet day........on the bright side I lost another 2 pounds!
Especially good the next day a fish day for lunch and dinner I baked some King Dory fish - my sons wife hates fish so he only gets it when I visit and take him to the fabulous Melbourne Markets where the choice of fresh fish is fabulous. It was absolutely gorgeous just done in a bit of butter with parsley and served with cauli and brocolli .
I feel like with the low carb diet and the metformin my body is overcoming the insulin resistance my tricyclic causes that I take for fibromyalgia . If only I did not need to take those pesky fibro drugs. I was reading that chronic pain in itself of any kind raises blood sugars too.

You know, sometimes life and our bodies just conspire against us.

I'm not a great one for "if only". It rarely gets us any place too positive. Just take those positive learnings from your experiences and bank them for use another day. Mistakes are what make us, but adventures are what make memories.

Have a great trip.

Wise words!
