😱I know I keep going on about it but....

I tested tonight after my dinner of steamed salmon; new baby potatoes; broccolli and a sugar free jelly. Glad to report my 1hr test was 7.3. Not going to test at 2hrs..

The last time I had this was slightly higher but replaced carrots with brocolli and had fewer potatoes.... Just looking for reassurance.....

I really wish there was a decent cook-book where "every-day" ingredients were used instead of expensive ingredients. I might even start printing out some of the recipes you guys have posted on here and put something together myself - for my own use .... 🙂

I would say they are promising results, and the smaller potato portion done the trick.....well done..........🙂

You could always try the cookbook at http://www.diabetes-support.org.uk/info/?page_id=175 and there are even more recipes and adaptations on the 'old' forum - only a few on the 'new' forum as yet but has only been up a couple of weeks yet!

Incidentally people 'rave' about butternut squash; we have only tried it once because we thought it tasted of .... nothing, LOL

Well done Amanda, perseverance is paying off for you.

I had high readings until I got down to 2 small new potatoes, especially with fish. Maybe not too much protein in fish to offset the carbs???????

I still do better on oven chips though, but only a 50g portion. I want to try cauli rice.

I have tried the cauli-rice; it was ok...but prefer it whole with a couple of new baby potatos and chicken or pork.

I haven't had chips for AGES.... Been looking at some of the old threads of what people have had for breakfast/lunch/dinner (via the search button) and found it interesting the variety of menus...I seem to stick to the same old...really need to start varying my meals and possibly including the odd treat...😉

Thats a good idea, Ta🙂 Getting fed up with ham salad:D

hey amanda ...you are doing brilliantly ..the numbers you are achieving in my opinion are pretty perfect ...you should be proud of yourself ..now try and relax a bit with it you have got a good idea whats good to eat at the moment and I bet your surprised at what it is that's no good for you ! test maybe the meal your most worried about ie if you try out something different ...x🙂

ps re the odd treat ...at chritmas my favourite is the darkest chocolate and sloe gin ...😎
remember moderation x

I do a similar meal except I replace the potatoes with just broccolli and cauliflower which I think are the best veggies GI wise. I have parsley sauce as well to put some flavour in! Check the jelly as well because sugar free doesnt mean its carb free!
