Type 2
Hi Everyone, thought i would join this forum as having a few difficulties with controlling Type 2

Just been prescribed Victoza (Liraglutide) injections for Type 2 as cannot tolerate Metformin. Feeling quite scared as have read so many
negative reviews on the Web. Can anyone give me any positives please

Hi Avey, welcome to the forum.🙂

That seems like a heck of a jump from Metformin. It’s certainly not a standard next step. Who thought that one up? Have you been on any other treatment?
The only positive about Victoza is that it works, like a sledgehammer kills spiders. Slightly OTT.

The other thing is have you been given advice on diet? Controlling T2 is almost as much about diet as medication.

Have you got a blood testing kit, so you can tell us what your readings are like, or what your latest blood tests show.

Sorry for all the questions, but it will help us to guide you. And ask any questions you like, none of them will sound daft because we’ve all asked them🙂

I was put onto a similar, slightly less refined version when I was diagnosed, along with Metformin, so its, just possibly a more modern treatment regime than historically.
So I would have no problems.

The positives.
It worked really well.
However, I am no longer on it, so I can only tell you my experience short term.
But if I needed to, I suspect I would prefer the version you are on, as opposed to the earlier version I had, if I needed to be re-prescribed.

I was morbidly obese at diagnosis, so I took advantage of the NHS, tested, realised which carbs I couldn't tolerate, worked with their dietician and gym, did a low fat calorie controlled diet, followed by the Newcastle diet, lost a lot of weight, and came off all diabetes control after revesing my diabetes.

Thankyou for the response, Yes for the last 12 months i have been on Alogliptin but my Hb1Ac levels have risen from 52 to 62 and my weight went up by 5kgs to 92kg. I have since joined a slimming group and have lost 6kgs . i have only just been advised to test Blood Sugars (fasting) am which always are 8.8. I was on Metformin SR for five years but the tummy problems got out of control!! . I just dont like the thought of all the side effects of Victoza which is all i have heard hence my reason for coming on this forum. If i can keep on loosing the weight then i would very much like to keep it under control with diet and exercise. Any thoughts please or more info on Victoza Thankyou
