Hi Bash, welcome to the forum 🙂 Not quite sure I understand your question - are you saying that you have neuropathic pains in your upper body, and are looking for other's experience of using nortriptyline? It's not something I'm familiar with myself, but I know we have members on various medications for neuropathy, so hopefully someone will be along to share their experiences 🙂

Have you been diagnosed long? Are you on any medication for your diabetes?

Not familiar with that med either, more of Amaltriptaline for me, though used to take an epileptic med for years before changing it over.

I am 45 years old been type 2 for 8 year and i got diagnosed in 2010 with ischemic heart disese and 2014 i had cataracts removed in both eyes.In 2015 gp said that im suffering with neuropathy and this is the tables i was given to take 25g nortripytline i just want to know what other test can be done to say that it is neuropathy.

Its normally diagnosed when you have the annual foot inspection as they do several tests. These being a vibration test where they have a machine that they place the head of it on your big toe and the intensity of the vibrations is increased until you feel it. It is done on both big toes and is repeated a couple of times to give them a base level, which they then can monitor over the years, but they can tell by the intensity of the vibrations if anything is going on.

The second test is basically like a short piece of thick fishing line in a pen like holder, you close your eyes and they then touch the bottoms of your feet in various places and you tell them when you can feel it touching you. This test the sensitivity of your feet and if there is nerve damage you won't feel the prods in all parts. They also apply different amounts of pressure, which again tells them if there is any reduced sensation.

There is a third test that they may or may not do, is its like an ultra sound that they can monitor the pulses in your feet.

Hi @bash, you can ask your GP for a referral for nerve conduction tests and or a neurologist apt,. It's quite painless and will show if you have any neuropathy.

Found this as well
