@emmgeo I have a packet in the cupboard for emergency breakfast in case I get a last minute call to work before I have managed my usual brekkie. I think having them but not every day is fine. Snacks are recommended @ 15g or less so you could even eat it this way rather than as substitute for a meal. Others may advise differently. I know many members don't snack at all. Others follow 50g or lower carbs daily so they probably would not 'waste' counts on food like this.
It will depend on what you can tolerate. I am just counting carbs (novice though) and eating something like this would definitely mean my end of day carbs(g) count would be higher than other days. It you have a sweet craving it will kick that too and possibly offer more complex nutrients than a piece of 85% Dark chocolate.
It would put my BG levels higher too but not into a danger zone. I have had about 3 in 7 weeks. (I used to eat this sort of thing daily as an at work snack).

Also be aware this info is for one bar - some of the packs contain 2 biscuits not one bar- I think this is just 1 40g bar though?

Quite a few of us here on the forum eat Nature Valley Protein Bars for an occasional sweet treat or on the go breakfast. The Salted Caramel variety is nice too and the Coconut one. They are much lower in carbs than any other Protein Bar I have come across by quite a long chalk and satisfying, so they are useful to have in the cupboard for those occasions when you feel the need. B&M stores usually have them in for £1.99 for a pack of 4 and sometimes the Coconut ones are even cheaper at £1.59 for a 4 pack and I think the coconut one has slightly less carbs at 8.6g if I remember rightly.
Aldi do a pack of Gluten Free Nut Bars which are just 5.9g carbs per bar and also very tasty and satisfying, so that is something else to get for the back of the cupboard.

I eat pumpkin seed and almond bars from Tesco’s 7.4g per bar and lovely with a tea at break time. £1.29 for 5

Nearly a year now since I have been a diabetic and still cant get my head around this carb thing, I assumed if a slice of bread on average is 15grms of carbs a protein bar with 9.6grms of carbs would be better than a slice of bread.
God only knows how I have managed to loose 6 stones in a year, and get my HBA1C down to 31, must be a lot of luck as for the last year I have assumed that's how it works.

Wow @emmgeo that's remission?! You are right carb wise a bar is better than a slice of bread. I imagine sugars may be higher - but depends on the loaf - I don't have enough bread knowledge as doing my best to avoid it until Nurse told me it was necessary and I could manage 2 slices a week. It does spike me and I only eat 1 slice and the other a few days later... I don't have it every week as I take insoluble/soluble fibre from other foods but I really enjoy my half a sandwich! 😉
